Good morning...
From Visit Worcestershire New Road, where Yorkshire are in final action against Glamorgan and it’s dry and bright at present.
It’s half marathon day in Worcester, which has made getting to this ground trickier than usual.
And that brings us onto our next point. You could say that 50-over cricket is a limited overs marathon. Well, the powers that be have agreed to turn this into somewhat of a sprint today, which is completely understandable given the weather forecast.
If you believe the forecasters, we are due for some heavy rain this afternoon. So, with that in mind, both teams have got their heads together and agreed to play a T20 match from 10.30am to at least try and decide this final.
Having just spoken to Rich Pyrah, the only thing which is still to be rubber-stamped is whether the game follows usual T20 rules. Ie, can it be a five-over chase? He was expecting that would be the case.
If we couldn’t get a game in, the trophy would be shared.
Glamorgan finished second in the One-Day Cup table and Yorkshire fourth. Both won through their semi-finals last weekend at home to Northamptonshire and away to Middlesex respectively.
Pyrah’s White Rose are aiming to put the late July disappointment of losing in the Vitality Blast final to Middlesex at Northampton behind them. Ironically, they beat Glamorgan in the semi-final that day.
You can read our preview for this game, with head coach Pyrah, via the embedded X post linked above.
Enjoy the day. Let’s hope the girls can bring it home!
