Yorkshire 115-2, 28 overs

Joe Root and James Wharton have 35 apiece, and they’ve shared 72 and counting.

There hasn’t been a great deal of assistance for the bowlers this morning.

The suggestion that pitches gets better as the games progress here is certainly looking to be true.

The next aim will be to get through to lunch, when that deficit should have been wiped off and then go from there.

Extra overs today...

It’s not exactly cracking the flags here at Taunton, but the sun is trying to make an appearance.

We will have 104 overs scheduled for today given yesterday’s rain.

In fact, we will have 104.3 given the incomplete over bowled yesterday. Yorkshire will resume on 13-0 from 4.3 overs.

Good morning...

It’s a dry but overcast morning in Taunton ahead of day three against Somerset.

When play does begin, and that looks like being 11am, Yorkshire will advance from 13-0 overnight, a deficit of 99.

Adam Lyth and Fin Bean are together at the crease.

We had 13 wickets fall on the first day and seven during the morning session yesterday. But, fingers crossed, things are much quieter this morning and Yorkshire can pile the runs on today.

If they can and can leave Somerset somewhere in the region of 300 to win, then there’s every chance of a victory tomorrow, which would be quite the effort having conceded a first-innings lead of 112.

No doubt, though, Somerset hold the whip hand. A good morning with the ball and it would leave them in sight of a third victory in four matches.
