A message from Club Captain Steve Patterson

To our Members and Supporters,

I write to you at the start of another nationwide lockdown in the hope that you and your family are keeping safe and well.

2020 was an incredibly challenging year for everyone, and unfortunately this is set to be the same over the next couple of months. However, the prospect of the return to some normality in the spring gives us all hope of better times to come.

From a cricketing perspective, we hope to be welcoming you to Emerald Headingley, Scarborough and York this summer where you will undoubtedly make a huge difference for us.

It was great to get some cricket in 2020. Although knowing that many of you were tuning into the live streams, it really showed us as players the difference having our supporters in the ground makes. As a squad, we are now back training under strict safety protocols and will be doing everything possible to ensure we are in the best place by the time Glamorgan arrive at Emerald Headingley on April 8. The Championship fixtures that were released just prior to Christmas represent an exciting schedule, with plenty of weekend cricket to look forward to and a number of away games at venues we have not visited for many years.

The addition of Dom Bess to our squad, along with a strong core of senior players and some really exciting young prospects that have gained valuable experience over the last few years gives me a lot of confidence heading into 2021. With your support, I’m sure we can challenge on all fronts.

The nature of the current restrictions make life incredibly difficult for many who may feel isolated. I’m writing to tell you that we want you to know that you are never alone. If you’re feeling lonely or isolated and want to chat, please reach out to us at the Club via email (click here) and we will be more than happy to get in touch. The Cricket Family has always been good at coming together and there is no more important time to do so.

Here’s hoping for a healthy, happy and cricket-filled 2021 with the return of our loyal supporters!

Best Wishes

Steve Patterson
