The Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) is delighted to announce the signing of new ball seamer Jessica Woolston on a two-year contract.

Woolston, 21, has played senior regional cricket for the Northern Diamonds for the last three seasons, taking a brilliant best of 5-37 in a 50-over win against South-East Stars at Scarborough in May 2023.

Born in Stockton-on-Tees, Woolston has county cricket experience with both Yorkshire and Durham under her belt and is the latest talented up and comer to sign her maiden professional contract.

Woolston has just graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in Sports Coaching and is a former student of the Yorkshire Cricket College.

In 2022, Woolston made her senior debut for the Diamonds in their Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy title-winning campaign. She also helped Yorkshire reach the area final of the County T20 Cup competition.

Woolston said: “I’m incredibly excited to start this new chapter with Yorkshire Women.

“To become a professional cricketer and sign for one of the biggest clubs in the country is a dream come true.

“We’ve got a great group in the squad and I’m looking forward to taking my game to the next level and contributing.

“Having the one year in Tier 2 gives us the opportunity to play brave cricket, push ourselves and build that team ethos that will help us win silverware when we become a Tier 1 side.”

Yorkshire Women’s Head Coach Richard Pyrah said: “We’re excited by Jess’s potential and to see where she can take her game over the next couple of years.

“Jess is part of an exciting fast-bowling group for Yorkshire Women, and she has two excellent, experienced seamers around her in Beth Langston and Rachel Slater. Alongside all the coaching staff they will be key in helping develop our young seamers such as Jess.

“We believe Jess has a bright future at our club and we’re looking forward to seeing her flourish.”

Everyone at Yorkshire Cricket would like to welcome Jessica to the  club and wish her the very best of luck with Yorkshire Women.
