Sterre Kalis yesterday scored a timely century for the Northern Diamonds in a commanding 50-over friendly win over Yorkshire Cricket College at Harrogate.
The Netherlands international posted her second friendly century in a week, a well timed 106 off 102 balls opening the batting to underpin a mammoth 385-6.
The Diamonds are warming up for the resumption of their Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy title defence this weekend, against South East Stars at Beckenham on Sunday (10.30am).
Kalis was strong square on both sides of the wicket, pulling with regularity, and she was backed up by 59 from captain Hollie Armitage and 60 not out from Chloe Tryon. Both scored at better than a run-a-ball to put the YC College under pressure.
The student side then responded with 213-9 from 44.3 overs, including Lizzie Scott’s 3-41 from eight overs.
Emma Marlow also struck twice with her off-spin added to strikes for Tryon, Katie Levick and Grace Hall, ensuring a margin of victory by 172 runs.
