Yorkshire’s under 13 Boys & under 16 year Girls combined last week to openly share ideas around spin from all aspects of the game.
Joined by Yorkshire’s very own Dom Bess and Jonny Tattersall, the players shared in a day of training all thing spin-bowling. From game-plans for bowling spin, to the best methods for batting against spin, to the ideal field placements with a spinner bowling.
Northern Diamonds Senior Regional Talent manager Courtney Winfield-Hill said: “Given it was the first time for us running a day like this, we weren’t sure how the players would interact, but that ended up being the highlight of the day.
“Two groups of young people engaging with each other through their common passion for cricket. I think both the boys and girls walked away from the day with a far greater respect for each others abilities.
“To have Dom (Bess) and Jonny (Tattersall) here was the icing on the cake. For the players to be able to access insights from them between overs and bounce ideas off them was priceless.
“As coaching staff, I think we took just as much out of the day collaborating with each other. We have already started reflecting on the session to make it bigger and better next time.”
