Following torrential rain on the journey over and overnight it was no surprise that there was a delayed start. An early lunch was taken and following a couple of inspections it was decided that play would start at 1.30 pm with 66 overs remaining.
Yorkshire lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Noah Kelly was caught at 3rd slip with only 4 scored. Will Bennison joined Yash Vagadia and they added 60 in 90 deliveries before Vagadia was caught at the wicket for 40 made from 54 balls with 8 fours.
Harry Duke then partnered Bennison and they advanced to 97 shortly before tea when Bennison was bowled by Barnard – he had made 43 from 67 with 7 fours – tea 110-3.
Duke and Jawad Akhtar added 61 from 98 balls before Duke became the 3rd batter to be dismissed in the forties being caught behind for 49 from 55 balls with 7 fours and a six – 158-4. Akhtar was joined by Joe Thompson and they remained together at the close, 227-4. Their partnership being 69 from 157 balls: Thompson 30 not out and Akhtar 46 not out.
Several heavy showers again meant that the start was delayed – this time until 2.15 pm and then there were further interruptions.
Lancashire resumed at 56-1 in reply to Yorkshires 405. Barnard and Singh extended their partnership to 41 before Barnard was caught at 2nd slip by Yash Vagadia for 25 to give Joe Davies his first wicket at this level. Shortly after George Lavelle was lbw to Jaffer Chohan for 5 and our hosts were 105-3 and at tea they were 109-3.
After tea Singh completed his half century from 116 balls with 6 fours. He had been joined by Shetty and they added exactly 100 from 159 balls before Shetty was well caught at slip by Noah Kelly to give Bradley Sylvester his first wicket at this level too. Shetty had made 56 from 76 balls.
No further wickets fell and Lancashire ended a truncated day at 213-4, Singh unbeaten on 84 from 189 balls.
