Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Fixtures at Headingley Confirmed
The full schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has officially been revealed today with Headingley set to stage five games in a tournament set to change the game for women’s cricket across Yorkshire.
The World Cup will open with England taking on Sri Lanka under lights at Edgbaston on Friday 12th June, the first of 33 matches being played at seven venues across three weeks.
Headingley will play host to international superstars with England, Australia, India, West Indies and Pakistan, all guaranteed to appear in Leeds.
Australia and India will both play a qualifier team in a double header on Wednesday 17th June. Both teams will certainly be amongst the favourites as they look to take the trophy from defending champions New Zealand.
The very next day, West Indies will play a qualifier in an evening game under the floodlights.
Headingley will then host Nat Sciver-Brunt’s England on Saturday June 20th as they look to regain a trophy they last won at the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup in 2009.
Australia vs Pakistan will then round off the games at in Leeds on June 23rd in what will be a blockbuster clash.
The newly expanded tournament will see 12 teams battle it out. Eight countries are already sure of their place, with the final four participants to be decided through an ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier next year.
Yorkshire’s very own Sterre Kalis will be aiming to see her Netherlands team through to qualification when they go toe-to-toe with Ireland and two other teams in the qualification tournament.
The arrival of the Women’s T20 World Cup will undoubtedly accelerate further growth of the women’s game across Yorkshire. In 2025, the Yorkshire Cricket Board launched its very first dedicated programmed to young female cricketers aged 8-11.
Roses Cricket is a fun inclusive and girls-only cricket initiative designed to inspire the next generation of players.
Earlier this year, Yorkshire launched their first ever Women’s cricket membership category. So far, an incredible 1694 women’s memberships have been taken out with attendances significantly higher than ever before as Yorkshire Women look to build in Tier Two before embarking on Tier One as part of the new domestic structure, in 2026.
England Women’s captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, said: “World Cups are always special, but this one already feels different — it has the potential to be truly game-changing. It’s going to be a huge moment for our sport and a brilliant opportunity to inspire young people and captivate fans across the country. Playing on home soil, for the biggest prize, against the best players in the world, it’s going to be unmissable. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
The tournament will not only give fans across the nation a chance to see world-famous cricketers in action but will also affect lasting change by inspiring countless women and girls across the country to get involved with cricket.
Tournament Director, Beth Barrett-Wild, commented: “The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup provides us with an unparalleled opportunity to transform a month of sporting excellence into a movement that will rewrite the narrative about women’s cricket. At iconic venues across the country, we’ll see incredible, world-class athletes battling it out in out in front of hundreds of thousands of fans, who with every ball bowled and run scored, will be contributing to lasting change. It’s our opportunity to give women’s cricket, and women’s sport, the stage it deserves.”
