Classy Kurtis

Kurtis Patterson

Surrey 56-1, 18.5 overs

Rory Burns caught George Hill bowled Jack White, 31.

Yorkshire have bowled nicely in the opening 25 minutes or so, only conceding 10 runs and probing with it.

Now Burns has edged White to first slip. Australian Kurtis Patterson is in now alongside Dom Sibley, who has 16.

Crowd down with Wembley on their mind?

The crowd was in the region of 5,000-6,000 yesterday at the Oval, but it’s nothing like today. One of the locals in the media centre is suggesting that the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Crystal Palace later is part of the reason. A decent portion of Surrey’s membership are of a Palace persuasion.

Coad and White with the ball

Jack White

Surrey have moved to 52-0 in the opening three overs of the day.

Ben Coad has just had a big appeal for lbw against Dom Sibley turned down. He has 12 and Rorby Burns 31.

Lauren aiming to beat 'em and then join 'em

Here’s our preview of Yorkshire v Essex with White Rose captain and soon-to-be Essex loanee Lauren Winfield-Hill.

PREVIEW

Good morning

It’s an overcast start to day two at the Kia Oval in South London, where Yorkshire’s men are aiming to bounce back from a frustrating day one against Surrey at the Kia Oval. The visitors were bowled out for 255 before Surrey made it to 46-0 at close in reply.

John Sadler, the county’s batting coach, spoke of being around 50 runs short with the total.

Yorkshire will need a good morning to prevent this game getting away from them. Obviously, there’s time for things to change before 11am, but the conditions don’t look bad for bowling at present.

Back up the M1, Yorkshire’s women are at Headingley for the biggest day of their season. At 2.30pm, they take on Tier 1 side Essex Eagles in round three of the Vitality County T20 Cup competition.

Yorkshire are on a five-match winning streak, including progressing through two rounds of this having beaten Derbyshire and Shropshire at home.

Essex have only won one game in seven so far this season in 50-over cricket.

You can read our preview for that fixture via the link above, while reaction and a day one report from The Oval are also available.
