If Yorkshire can get one of these two before close, that would be the dream. Essex trail by 74.

Sixth wicket to fall caught behind down leg in the match.
Wow!

You just knew it would be Coad, didn’t you.

Yorkshire 459 all out, 131.2 overs
Matthew Revis caught Paul Walter bowled Matt Critchley, 150.
Caught at long-on, and Yorkshire lead by 91 with 16 overs remaining in the day.
You don’t see innings like that very often. Outstanding.
Revis 150
Matthew Revis reaches his 150 off 185 balls with 18x4s and 2x6s. Superb.
It’s 459-9, a lead of 91.
Yorkshire 442-9, 129.2 overs
Ben Coad bowled Matt Critchley, 89.
What an innings that was, but it ends with the lead of 74.

The dream team.

Matthew Revis and Ben Coad celebrate their century partnership. They have taken Yorkshire to 410-8, a lead of 42. Revis 114 and Coad 76. Both career best scores.
Hundred for Revis!
What an innings. Fabulous.
The all-rounder reaches his third career century in first-class cricket. Denied last week at Trent Bridge with 93 not out, but not this time.
He gets there off 151 balls with 14x4s.
Yorkshire now 386-8, with Ben Coad on 62. The lead is 18.
Up and running after tea
Matthew Revis on 98 and Ben Coad on 56.
Yorkshire 374-8, leading by six.
Tea. Yorkshire 370-8, 118 overs
Yorkshire with a lead of two. Matthew Revis 94 and Ben Coad 56. Outstanding 97-run stand between the pair.
Coad 50
What an innings this is from Ben Coad, his second first-class fifty coming off 69 balls with 3x4s and 2x6s.
Both career fifties have come against Essex, the first being 69 in defeat at Headingley in 2022.
Yorkshire are now 359-8 in the 117th over, trailing by nine as we close in on tea.
Yorkshire 338-8, 114th over
The partnership between Matthew Revis 83 and Ben Coad 37 is approaching 70, and Yorkshire are only 30 behind now.
This has been a superb effort, and Yorkshire have a glimmer of hope with regards to a victory chance.
Bonus for Yorkshire, literally
Yorkshire have reached 313-8 from 110 overs, trailing by 55.
Matthew Revis 72 and Ben Coad 24. This partnership of 40 has denied Essex a third bowling point. Yorkshire have finished with two batting points.
So the bonus points total in the match is Yorkshire four and Essex three.
Excellent passage of play for the White Rose.
Yorkshire 303-8, 105 overs
Yorkshire have a second batting bonus point, and they could really do with Matthew Revis 68 and Ben Coad 17 batting for another five overs to deny Essex a third bowling point.
It’s an interesting game now in the sense that, while the draw is the most likely result by a distance here, you could argue that Yorkshire are more likely winners than Essex if there was to be a positive result.
Essex came into this game with a 14-point gap from Yorkshire, who are second-bottom. Surely, Essex will not want to risk Yorkshire winning and getting above them. So they will potentially be ultra-cautious with any declaration.
Yorkshire, however, are within striking distance of Essex’s total and early wickets could put the cat amongst the pigeons.
Yorkshire 273-8, 97 overs
Dom Bess caught behind Michael Pepper bowled Shane Snater, 4.
Another strangle down the leg-side. Bess mightily frustrated as he trudges off as the fifth batter to fall that way in the match.
Ben Coad in alongside Matthew Revis 55.

Matthew Revis reaches his fifty off 89 balls with 7x4s.
Yorkshire 268-7, trailing by 100.
Yorkshire 260-7, 93.3 overs
Will Sutherland lbw Simon Harmer, 20.
Sutherland on the back foot is trapped in front having maybe not played a shot at one. Harmer knew it was out immediately.
Matthew Revis 46 is joined by Dom Bess.
Yorkshire 255-6, 93rd over
The White have a batting bonus point.
Matthew Revis has 45 and Will Sutherland 16. Both men look in good order.
Yorkshire are 113 behind.
Up and running after lunch
No addition to the score just yet.
Yorkshire 236-6 in the 87th over.
Lunch. Yorkshire 236-6, 85 overs
Three wickets have fallen this morning, with Matthew Revis unbeaten on 37 and Will Sutherland 6.
Yorkshire 228-6, 83.4 overs
George Hill lbw Shane Snater, 0.
Trapped lbw half pushing forwards. First impression was maybe height an issue. But umpire Michael Gough raises the finger.
Will Sutherland is in now alongside Matthew Revis, who has 35.
Yorkshire 222-5, 81.3 overs
Adam Lyth caught behind Michael Pepper bowled Shane Snater, 84.
Lyth falls just short of a 40th career first-class century. The new ball works for Essex.
George Hill is in alongside Matthew Revis, who has 31.
The deficit is now 146.
New ball taken
Khaleel Ahmed has returned to the attack and will bowl with the new ball.
Yorkshire 220-4 after 80 overs, trailing by 148.
Adam Lyth has 83 and Matthew Revis 30. These two have shared 51 and counting for the fifth wicket.
Yorkshire 208-4, 75 overs
Yorkshire’s deficit is now 160, with the new ball due shortly – just before lunch.
Adam Lyth has 81 and Matthew Revis 20.
Lyth reaches 14,000 Championship runs

Adam Lyth, upon reaching 69 this morning, went to 14,000 career runs in the Rothesay County Championship.
Of the Yorkshire batters to have debuted in the last 60 years, only Martyn Moxon, who went beyond 16,000, has scored more.
He now has 73 out of 190-4. Lyth has been batting through a calf injury since last night.
Yorkshire benefit to the tune of five penalty runs
Khaleel Ahmed has just thrown a ball back at Adam Lyth in his follow through. It hit Lyth on the ankle and looks to have smarted. Ahmed apologised immediately but umpires Hartley and Gough convened and penalised Essex five runs. Yorkshire 179-4 in the 63rd over, with Lyth on 73.
Yorkshire 169-4, 61 overs
Jonny Bairstow caught behind Michael Pepper bowled Khaleel Ahmed, 29.
Edges behind trying to uppercut.
Ahmed claims his first wicket for Essex.
Matthew Revis is in now, alongside Adam Lyth on 72.
Bairstow looking bullish

Jonny Bairstow has come out this morning with his chest pushed out. He’s cut a couple of boundaries and has moved to 25 out of 155-3 in the 59th over.

Life for Lyth
Adam Lyth has just been dropped on 66 off Khaleel Ahmed in the day’s third over, by Dean Elgar at first slip. Pretty regulation really.
Yorkshire 150-3 in the 57th over.
Lyth and Bairstow to resume
Adam Lyth 65 and Jonny Bairstow 14 will resume on 143-3, with Yorkshire trailing by 225.
We will be getting underway under an overcast sky.
Khaleel Ahmed has taken the ball.

Good morning...
From York, where the sun has just broken through. It’s not likely to be as warm as the previous two days, but still warm enough.
Yorkshire will require a good day with the bat to give themselves hope of victory. It’s by no means impossible at the halfway stage of this contest. The draw is most likely result, but both will believe there is a route to victory.
Adam Lyth will resume unbeaten on 65 at the start of the day alongside captain Jonny Bairstow on 14.
Essex’s 14-point lead over second-bottom Yorkshire will no doubt come into their thinking should they get into a position tomorrow where a declaration to set a target comes into play. Yorkshire could put pressure on with a lead or even a small deficit.
