Dawid Malan will be undertaking his first commitments as a Yorkshire player next week when he drops into Emerald Headingley for some fitness testing and to meet some of his new team-mates and the county’s hierarchy.

Malan will sit down with Andrew Gale to “map out his winter”, says the coach.

The former Middlesex captain signed a four-year contract with the club earlier this month, just days before smashing a sensational T20 international century for England in New Zealand.

He then captained the Qalandars side in the T10 League in Abu Dhabi, which finished at the weekend.

“He’s going to be in with us next week for a couple of days to do all his screening and fitness testing. He’ll be looking for a house up here as well, I think,” said Gale.

“After Christmas he will be around a bit more depending upon his commitments – he’s been in the Pakistan Super League for the last couple of years.

“I need to sit down with him and map his winter out.

“But we said we’d get all his England stuff out the way in New Zealand before we did.”
