Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Sanjay Patel, was formally presented with his MBE medal on Friday, following the traditional presentation ceremony held at St James’s Palace.

Patel was recognised for his exceptional service to cricket and The Hundred, with his award being announced as part of the King’s Birthday Honours in June.

Since its inception, The Hundred has transformed the English game with increased attendances amongst families as well as attracting significant external investment, helping to alter Yorkshire CCC’s financial landscape.

Patel said he was proud to have received the award.

“I feel very privileged to receive this award and to be given the opportunity to work in a sport that I love. I would like to thank the people who supported me and in particular the great team who helped build The Hundred.

“The Hundred continues to be a vehicle for positivity and increased engagement amongst diverse audiences within cricket and has provided financial stability for the whole game going forward.”
