Scorecard

Yorkshire’s Academy are the Under 18s County One-Day Cup champions having beaten Middlesex in today’s final at Kibworth in Leicestershire by 36 runs.

Jack Redshaw led a superb revival from 50-4 to 247-8 with a stunning 103 off 129 balls, sharing a fifth-wicket partnership of 167 with captain Jawad Akhtar, who contributed an impressive 69.

In defence, Yorkshire’s fledglings bowled Middlesex out for 211, though the game was decided long before as they fell to 119-7.

Bradley Sylvester took the new ball and claimed 3-28 from six overs, added to Charlie Taylor’s 3-22 from 6.1. Josh Hen-Boisen struck twice and Josh Hoyle once.

Redshaw, Akhtar, Hen-Boisen and Hoyle are all part of Yorkshire’s Academy intake for 2024, but Sylvester and Taylor are in the Emerging Players Programme squad. New Yorkshire rookie professional Noah Kelly also played today.

As well as the players, success is also significant reward for lead Academy coach Tom Craddock, head of the performance pathway James Martin and their backroom staff.
