Game 1
Heavy overnight and early morning rain didn’t affect the start time and on winning the toss Notts asked Yorkshire to bat first.
Finlay Bean and Jonny Tattersall opened the innings with the latter being caught at mid wicket for 7 (27-1); Bean was joined by Will Luxton and they added 40 in only 17 balls before Bean was bowled for 45 from 23 deliveries however Yorkshire were 68-2 at the end of the powerplay.
James Wharton was stumped for 5 but Matthew Revis joined Luxton – Luxton made 51 from 35 balls with 4 fours and a six and Revis 31 from 21 and after 15 overs we were 135-3, however the last 5 overs produced a plethora of wickets and producing only 19 runs as ended on 154-8.
Matt Milnes had Haseeb Hameed caught behind (12-1) but Martindale and McCann added 70 in 38 balls before Martindale was caught in the deep for 30. McCann went for 45 from 23 balls closely followed by Harrison for 7 but at 117-4 with 7 overs remaining Nottinghamshire needed only a further 38 runs.
As in our innings wickets fell in a bunch and they were reduced to 127-7, however George Lavelle 18 no and Lord 16 saw them through to a 2 wicket victory.
Game 2
Yorkshire made 5 changes for this game where our hosts batted first. Louis Backhouse struck twice and along with a wicket for George Hill reduced Nottinghamshire to 42-3. Martindale made 38 from 26 but when he fell 89-4 soon became 122 all out in the 16th over. Joe Pocklington took 2 wickets but the main wicket taker was Jafer Chohan who took 4-21 in his 3.5 overs.
The new opening pair of Harry Duke and Yash Vagadia made 11 before Duke was caught behind for 8 and Vagadia caught at mid wicket for 17 however it was again, Will Luxton who produced some excellent shots in his 45 from only 18 deliveries with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
George Hill ended 30 not out from 26 balls as Yorkshire eased to their first win of the Group stage by 6 wickets with almost 5 overs to spare.
Next scheduled action is a home game at Harrogate on Friday 6th June against Durham due to start at 2 pm.
