Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to confirm Will Sutherland will return to the Club in 2026, with the Australian all-rounder available for the duration of the Vitality Blast and rounds seven and eight of the Rothesay County Championship.

Sutherland, who captains Victoria in the Sheffield Shield and Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash, returns to Headingley having had a similar stint with the White Rose in 2025.

His best performance came in a narrow loss to Northamptonshire during the group stage of the Vitality Blast, crushing 58 from 30 balls including six sixes.

He scored an unbeaten 101* in the recent Sheffield Shield clash vs Western Australia, coming up against fellow Yorkshire recruits Sam Whiteman and Jhye Richardson. The right-hander also toured India with Australia A in September last year, impressing with both bat and ball.

‘Chief’ as he is affectionately known, said he was delighted to be returning.

“I had a brilliant time with the Club last year and I’m really excited to be coming back to Headingley.

“Working with Mags and the rest of the coaching staff helped me push my game forward, and I built a strong bond with the rest of the lads along the way.

“I followed the team’s progress closely from afar and the way we finished last season was hugely impressive. The momentum and belief that created was clear to see and I can’t wait to get back in and get started with the boys again.”

Gavin Hamilton, General Manager of Cricket added, “Will made a real impression on everyone last year, both in the way he went about his game but also his off-field qualities too.

“He adds further leadership to our group ahead of this season, with the added advantage of already understanding our environment – how we operate and the values we stand for.

“He was a hugely popular member of the squad, and I know his return will be warmly welcomed by our members and supporters alike.”
