Yorkshire Academy’s Yash Vagadia stole the headlines in pre-season, making 49 whilst opening the batting for a White Rose side against a strong Durham attack.

The young off-spinning all-rounder was afforded the chance to play at Emerald Headingley as Yorkshire fielded two teams at the same time, one against Durham and the other away at Middlesex.

“That was a fantastic opportunity,” Vagadia commented. “We had a few games where the first teamers were elsewhere and I got an opportunity to play in that game. I’ve been working towards being able to play at that level and it gave me a lot of confidence for the rest of the season that I can perform in any game. Hopefully I can carry that through if I get opportunities in the second team.”
