The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is excited to be recruiting a Business Development Manager to work at Emerald Headingley Stadium.

Organisation:

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club, founded in 1863, is a world-famous cricket club. York-shire is England’s most successful cricket club and has produced more players for England’s national team than any other county in history.

Away from the professional arena, Yorkshire is a hotbed of cricket in the country, with in excess, of 7450 grassroot clubs and schools playing the game every week in the summer. This equates to over 125,000 recreational cricket players.

The Emerald Headingley Stadium is also one of the world’s most renowned international venues. The ground opened in 1890 and in 2019 completed it’s £40 million redevelopment that includes a new state of the art Emerald Stand, that increases the ground capacity to 18,350. The facilities within the stand include a 450 seater banqueting suite that includes views of both the Rugby and Cricket grounds plus a number of additional facilities that creates a unique and world-class venue for this region.

From 2020 The Emerald Headingley Stadium now also hosts one of the eight City based teams in ‘The Hundred’ Competition – The Northern Superchargers.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Sales & Partnerships
The key focus of this role is driving forward Yorkshire Cricket’s existing revenue streams by the acquisition of new business from commercial partnerships, hospitality, advertising, digital platforms, and events.

They will also be expected to help create new stable revenue streams to ensure the business is reaching its full earnings potential.

This is a target driven role that will be expected to deliver results consistently.

SKILLS NEEDED:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Entrepreneurial drive; identifying business needs and creating and implementing solutions
• Excellent sales ability, resilient and driven to achieve stretching targets
• Experience of working in a similar position within a team for at least 3 years
• Successful previous experience in a similar role, consistently meeting or exceeding targets

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
• Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
• Strong business sense and industry expertise
• Preparing and delivering professional presentations to potential commercial partners in order to deliver sales, both personally and through the sales team
• ability to enhance client retention as well as acquiring new business
• Support the Head Commercial Sales and Partnerships and in designing and implementing a strategic business plan that expands the company’s customer base
• Proactively solicit new business by, among other things, making sales calls and presentations, attending networking events and engaging in other client prospecting to increase the size of the organisation’s potential client database
• Lead generation including researching and targeting companies and individuals for sales presentations
