Yorkshire Academy hosted Castleford on Saturday with the weather sunny and warm.

Castleford won the toss and not surprisingly elected to bat.

The visitors lost an early wicket before captain David Wainwright and wicket keeper Eitan Litvin put together a stand of 64 before Wainwright was dismissed for 34. The third wicket fell shortly afterwards to leave Castleford 85 for 3 from 24 overs. The 4th wicket fell at 112. Litvin completed his half century before being dismissed for 54 from 103 balls with 5 fours with the total on 161 for 5 from 41.1 overs. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals in the last few overs and Castleford were 202 all out from their allocated 50 overs.

Harrison Quarmby 3 for 43 and Josh Sullivan 3 for 44 were the best bowlers for the Academy.

In the reply the Academy openers got off to a respectable start before James Wharton was dismissed with the total on 49. The other opener Arjun Ramkumar followed shortly afterwards at 56.

Captain Tom Loten and George Hill put together a third wicket partnership of 68 before Loten was out with the total on 124 in the 39th over. Two further wickets fell quickly to leave the Academy on 146 for 5 from 41.3 overs. Hill was joined by Dominic Leech and the pair took the score to 183 for 6 before Leech was dismissed which meant the Academy needed 20 from 15 balls. Hill was dismissed three balls later for an excellent 84 from 91 balls with 9 fours and 1 six. Josh Sullivan was out the next ball. Unfortunately the Academy fell nine runs short finishing on 193 for 9 from 50 overs.

The chief wicket taker for Castleford was Eddie Morrison with 3 for 54 from 13 overs.
