On an overcast morning Jonny Tattersall won the toss and elected to bat first, however, at 16-2 with both openers dismissed, it took Will Luxton and Tattersall to rectify the situation. The pair had done so by taking the score to 119 when in the last over before lunch, Tattersall was out for 51 from 80 balls with nine fours. Yorkshire went to lunch at 123-3, Luxton unbeaten on 46 from 74 balls.

Luxton and Harry Allinson added 37 before the former was caught at second slip for 58 from 132 balls. Allinson was joined by Yash Vagadia and they had advanced to 183 when similar to the morning session, a wicket was lost in the penultimate over – Allinson caught behind for 34 from 91 balls. Tea was taken at 187-5.

Noah Priestley made 22 from 62 balls and Matthew Waite eight from 13 to leave Yorkshire at 247-7. Vagadia reached his maiden half century from 129 balls but fell lbw three runs later. Yorkshire were dismissed for 259 from the first delivery of the last over of the day.
