Dom Bess believes he is a more rounded bowler now than he was when he left Taunton at the end of 2020 as he prepares for his first return trip home this week.

The England off-spinner faces Somerset for the second time since swapping the West Country for Yorkshire, though it will be the first at Taunton.

Yorkshire face Somerset in their ninth LV= Insurance County Championship match of the season, starting tomorrow at 11am.

“Since I left Taunton for here, I’ve been to India, to Sri Lanka on Test tours, I’ve been dropped from the Test side, I’ve had to bowl at Headingley and I’ve had to bowl on some very placid pitches at the start of this year,” said the 24-year-old Devonian.

“All those experiences have progressed my game, and for me it’s a big learning curve.”
