It was the final weekend of Regional Phase 1 for all but the U12s on Sunday, with some impressive performances to round off the early season campaigns for Yorkshire’s young cricketers.

In the U10s, North claimed a 61-run victory over West. North batted first and made 162-8, with opener George Lamb (55) leading the way. West were then bowled all out for 101, with the wickets shared. Meanwhile, South hosted East & Central. The visitors batted first, reaching 157-6, with Rayyan Ahmad (39) and Harun Muneer (34) both in the runs, as Isaac Khehra took 3-20. In the chase, South fell to 118 all out, despite opener Taiga Nishikawa-Khan’s 35.

In the U11s, Adwalton Cricket Club say a real run-fest, as West entertained South. West batted first, setting 255-8, including 85 for Sol Wood and 38 for skipper Henry Wood. Harry Ogley (3-19) was the pick of the South bowlers. The South batters had a good go at the total, with Aahan Muttana (60) getting them close towards the end, before they ultimately fell 19 runs short, with Alex Gillgrass claiming 3-19. Over in Hull, North claimed a 34-run victory over East & Central. North batted first, setting 176-7 thanks largely to 61 from Arthur Camacho and 32* from Bobby Wood-Rymer. Felix Gilliland took 3-22 for E&C. Despite a good start from openers Rowan Smith (47) and James Shaw (30), East & Central then slumped to 142 all out with Will Upton (3-16) and Harry Robson (3-6) both bagging three wickets.

In the U12s, East & Central hosted South Yorkshire. East & Central batted first and set 194-3 from their 40 overs, with Safiullah Abrar (52) and Sam Powdrell (50*) both making half centuries and Seth Jackson also notching a run-a-ball 31*. South ultimately fell 67 runs short, with Jack Longley left stranded on 47*, as South were all out for 127 within 33 overs. In the other game in the age group, it was a close finish at Pateley Bridge CC. West Yorkshire batted first and made 130 all out, with Lewis Senior (36) the top scorer. In the reply, North would fall just eight runs short, with 3-10 from West’s Sam Walker proving crucial.

In the U13s, South secured a comprehensive win over North. North were dismissed for just 44 in the first innings, as the South bowlers ripped through the North line-up, led by Noah Jackson (4-7). South then cruised to a seven-wicket victory, but not before Ryan Thompson (3-10) had restored some pride for North! Elsewhere, West hosted East & Central. West batted first, setting 127 all out, including 37 from Abdul Bhatti, as Joash Duggal took 4-21. East & Central then finished off a strong day, as Stanley Newman (59*) saw them home in the 29th over, for the loss of three.

In the U14s, West ran out comfortable winners against East & Central. E&C batted first and were back in the pavilion for 120 all out, despite opener Alex Holt’s 40. Om Behera (4-17) and Abdullah Hussain (3-16) did most of the damage for West. West then eased to a seven-wicket victory, after 32 from Josh Winnard and 31* from George Leach. Meanwhile, South played host to North. Batting first, South were dismissed for 128 all out, with Shiva Kasaraneni (30) the top scorer and Rollo Storey (4-35) the pick of the bowlers. Whilst it wasn’t a massive total, it proved almost enough for the win, and it took all 11 North batters to claim the win, nine down. Oliver Ashton top scored with 40 in the chase.

In the U15s, West claimed the biggest score of the week vs South, as they amassed 305-7 from their 50 overs, with runs for Finn Brookes (90*), Daniel Marshall (51) and Hamza Saeed (47). South then fell to 177 all out, with Max Turner (3-22) and Mahleb Mahmood (3-31) both claiming 3-fers. Seb Carter (32) provided the most resistance. It was another high-scoring affair as East & Central took on North. Adam Watson (46), Lewis Ainley (57) and Jamie Redgewick (36*) were all in the runs as East & Central set 215-7 in the first innings, as Ethan Caisley took 3-38. North then secured a seven-wicket win, with opener Monty Dodsworth batting all the way to victory with a superb 109*, partnered at the end by Harry Lambley (36*).
