The U15s Girls started the month of July with two 40 over wins against Cheshire and Nottinghamshire. There were a number of stand outs with the bat over the course of the two games.

Ines Blackwell scored 39 and Megan Sugden 36 against Cheshire, while Navya Gutta and Amy Lovatt came together to put on 86, scoring 56 and 43 respectively. Wickets were shared around across the two matches while Ines Blackwell shone in the field taking 4 catches at first slip against Nottinghamshire.

4 wins from 4 followed against Northumberland and Cheshire in 4 T20 fixtures. Lizzie Pickles claimed 4-10 in a brilliant spell while Amy Lovatt (56*) and Izzy Fidler (53*) came together to take the girls to a very impressive total of 165-2 in 20 overs. Runs continued to be scored against Cheshire with an outstanding partnership of 121 off 88 balls from Maiya Charlesworth (63*) and Holly Garton (40*) to see the girls chase the target of 121 inside 15 overs.

The girls managed one win and one loss from their two T20s against Warwickshire with an impressive chase of 125 in the final over of the match. Nat brown impressed with the bat (30) while Louisa Hill, Amelia Love and Lizzie Pickles shared 4 wickets between them and conceding less than 34 runs from their combined 9 overs.

The girls finished the month with two good wins against Durham at Washington CC. Thanks to 53 41 from Ines Blackwell, Durham were set 128 to win and thanks to a brilliant spell of 4-2-2-2 from Amelia Love they fell 21 runs short. Amelia showed great pace and accuracy during those 4 overs.

In the second game, Durham were restricted to 98-7 from their 20 overs with wickets shared around. The coaching staff challenged the batters to chase the runs inside 13 overs. And largely due to 37 off 22 balls from Maiya Charlesworth and 24* off 23 balls from Ines Blackwell, the girls were able to do so on the final ball of the 13th over.

Another positive month for the girls and it’s been really enjoyable to watch them continuing to develop and putting in performances for Yorkshire. The girls now look forward to playing at the Oakham Festival against Surrey and the Malvern Festival to round off their summer programme in August
