Yorkshire were put in a spin by Glamorgan as they lost today’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash by four wickets at Weetwood having been bowled out for 172 batting first.
A much-changed side lost their third match in six games to threaten their chances of a top-four finish, with eight wickets falling to spin on a pitch which turned significantly.
Yorkshire, having elected to bat, did well to recover from 87-6 in the 21st over and then 111-8 after 28, with all-rounder Ria Fackrell confidently marshalling the tail and finishing 36 not out off 48 balls with four boundaries.
Claudie Cooper contributed 18 from number 10 and debutant Scotland seamer Hannah Rainey 15 from 11. New-ball seamer Rainey later returned 0-33 from seven overs.
Impressive leg-spinners Poppy Walker and Nicole Reid claimed three wickets apiece for a visiting side who were indebted to their captain and opener Lauren Parfitt. She made a patient 49 off 87 balls as victory was secured in the 46th over.
In defeat, Fackrell had an excellent day, adding 3-34 from 10 overs with her off-spinners.

Yorkshire, who fought hard with the ball but realistically needed another 40-50 runs on the board, actually handed debuts to two Scotland internationals, with batting all-rounder Megan McColl playing on a pay-as-you-play deal.
They were missing six players who featured in the Vitality Blast final defeat to Middlesex at the end of last month, with the majority on Hundred duty, Georgie Boyce only on loan for that competition and Olivia Thomas out injured.
Fackrell and Rebecca Duckworth, the latter with 29, were the only two White Rose batters to top 20 in an innings which saw Ami Campbell out hit wicket.
Campbell pulled Reid out to deep mid-wicket but stepped on her stumps in the process – 79-4 in the 20th over.
Three Yorkshire batters were bowled playing back to balls which, on reflection, they could have gone forwards to; opener Erin Thomas to Gemma Porter’s off-spin, captain Maddie Ward to Reid and Ines Blackwell to Walker.
The other opener, Amelia Oliver, was unfortunately run out following a mix-up with Duckworth.

Glamorgan included a trio of Tier 1 loan players, including Durham duo Emma Marlow and Lizzie Scott. The former Northern Diamonds duo are not involved in the ongoing Hundred. Marlow is a product of the Yorkshire system.
Seamer Scott took the new ball and struggled to find her length, conceding 33 in four overs. She has only played one game for Durham during an injury-hit summer, bowling just the one over in that.
Marlow bowled two overs of off-spin at a cost of two runs late in the innings as Yorkshire recovered.
Impressive Fackrell hit four fours and shared 37 for the ninth wicket with Cooper and 24 for the 10th with Rainey.
Unfortunately, though, it proved not to be enough, despite further success for Fackrell – this time with the ball.
Glamorgan openers Lauren Parfitt and Abbey Freeborn shared 65 inside 13 overs to break the back of the chase.

They still didn’t chase comfortably even though Yorkshire could have been better in the field. Fackrell had Bears loanee Freeborn caught and bowled in the 13th over before striking again in her next when Marlow chipped to mid-wicket, leaving the score at 69-2.
Parfitt then shared a third-wicket 57 with Bethan Gammon, who contributed 34 to further strengthen Glamorgan’s position before she fell caught behind off Cooper’s off-spin – 126-3 in the 28th over.
Gammon attempted to cut at a ball which bounced more than expected, and Ward took a smart catch.
Fackrell’s third wicket then left Glamorgan 128-4 in the 31st – Parfitt well caught at mid-wicket by Woolston. The Welsh side still needed 45.
Blackwell’s seam then accounted for Charlotte Scarborough – a good name for Yorkshire Cricket – bowled as Glamorgan fell to 141-5 in the 37th.
Cooper (2-26 from 9.5 overs) bowled Eve Jackson with 20 to win, but an unbeaten 12 not out from Scott saw the visitors over the line.
