LIVE STREAM: WORCS RAPIDS v YORKSHIRE MEN

Yorkshire lose by 60 runs DLS

The rain prevents this fixture from reaching its full conclusion, but there’s no doubt about the result unfortunately.

Worcestershire have limited the White Rose, chasing 202, to 135-8.

Yorkshire have now lost two from two to start their North Group campaign.

Yorkshire 135-8, 19.3 overs - Rain

We’re off for rain with three balls left.

There will be a few raised eyebrows given the position of the game, but it’s raining hard. Little the umpires could do.

Into the final two overs at New Road

This game is drifting towards a finish, with Yorkshire 133-7 in the 19th. That 202-target has long since gone, unfortunately.

Dom Bess 40 and Jafer Chohan 6.

Yorkshire's women win Blast opener

Ria Fackrell

The White Rose’s women have beaten Derbyshire by eight wickets chasing 105 with 7.2 overs remaining. Amelia Oliver 39 not out. Ria Fackrell earlier starred with 4-12.

Fabulous.

Yorkshire 114-7, 14.3 overs

Matthew Revis bowled Jacob Duffy, 33.

Yorked with a back-of-the-hand slower ball by the New Zealander, bringing to a close a 63-run partnership with Dom Bess, who has 29. Jafer Chohan in now. 202-target.

Yorkshire 90-2 after 10 overs

Yorkshire need only 15 more to win.

Georgie Boyce fell for 42, with Amelia Oliver unbeaten on an excellent 32.

Yorkshire’s men 107-6 after 14 overs chasing 202. Matthew Revis 33, Dom Bess 22.

Revis and Bess have shared 45

It looks like being nothing more than consolatory, but Matthew Revis (31) and Dom Bess (20) have taken the score to 96-6 in the 13th over. Yorkshire are chasing 202.

Meanwhile, at Headingley, Yorkshire’s women are 79-1 in the ninth over chasing 105. Debutant Georgie Boyce is 42 not out.

Yorkshire 43-1 in the fifth over

That target of 105 is being reeled in with comfort, Georgie Boyce has 19 and Amelia Oliver 14.

Yorkshire’s men are 59-6 after eight overs having lost Adam Lyth caught at deep backward square for 38 recently. Matthew Revis and Dom Bess are chasing a miracle comeback.

Yorkshire 40-5, 5.1 overs

Harry Duke caught Ethan Brookes bowled Adam Finch, 2.

Caught at cover and Yorkshire are in real bother now. Incoming Will Sutherland needs to reproduce the fireworks of the other night at Headingley. Adam Lyth has 33.

Yorkshire women 12-1 in the second over at Headingley.

Oh no, as I type, Sutherland is caught behind down leg off Ben Dwarshuis, 0.

Matthew Revis in now.

Yorkshire 37-3, 4.4 overs

James Wharton run out, 2.

Adam Lyth drops an Adam Finch delivery close to his feet and sets off for a single, Wharton looked short all the way and Finch side foots the ball onto the stumps. Harry Duke in now alongside Lyth, who has 33. 202-target.

Yorkshire’s women 11-0 after one over chasing 105 at Headingley.

Lyth trying to shift momentum

Adam Lyth has raced to 31 off 16 balls, with Yorkshire 35-2 in the fifth over.

Yorkshire 16-2, 2.1 overs

Will Luxton caught Tom Hinley bowled Adam Finch, 1.

Pulled out towards deep mid-wicket and brilliantly caught by a diving Hinley on the run around from deep backward square. Yorkshire chasing 202 and under early pressure with Adam Lyth and James Wharton at the crease.

Yorkshire 11-1, 1.2 overs

Dawid Malan bowled Jacob Duffy, 0.

Malan tries to go big against the New Zealand quick and is bowled. Yorkshire chasing 202. Will Luxton in now.

Derbyshire’s women finished with 104-7, including Ria Fackrell’s brilliant 4-12.

I can see clearly now...

The rain has gone.

The covers are coming off and the players are on their way back out to the middle. No overs lost.

Derbyshire 100-7 in the 20th over at Headingley.

Rain at New Road

It’s raining at Visit Worcestershire New Road, where Yorkshire are 10-0 after one over. The players scarper back to the pavilion.

Fabulous Fackrell

Ria Fackrell has returned a superb 4-12 from four overs. Derbyshire are 90-6 in the 16th over at Headingley. Jess Woolston has just struck.

Yorkshire’s men have started their chase of 202. Adam Lyth and Dawid Malan opening the batting.

Yorkshire need 202 to win

Dom Bess

Worcestershire Rapids total 201-5 from their 20 overs.

Yorkshire did well to limit the Rapids, with only 36 runs coming from the last four overs. Dom Bess stood out with 2-25 from three overs.

Derbyshire’s women are 75-5 in the 14th over at Headingley.

Derbyshire 58-5, 10.3 overs

Rhiannon Knowling-Davies caught behind Maddie Ward bowled Ria Fackrell, 4.

Yorkshire’s off-spinning all-rounder has a fourth wicket.

Excellent stuff up at Headingley.

Meanwhile, here at New Road, Worcestershire’s men are 198-4 after 19 overs.

Worcestershire 174-4, 17.2 overs

Adam Hose caught Adam Lyth bowled Dom Bess, 54,

Caught long-off.

If Yorkshire can keep this below 200, they will have done well in the end. Make no mistake, even if they don’t, they will fancy their chances of chasing it. They chased over 200 here last year too.

Worcestershire 168-3, 16.4 overs

Brett D’Oliveira caught Dawid Malan bowled Will Sutherland, 79.

Well caught over his shoulder running back from wide mid-off.

That ends a 117-stand with Adam Hose, who remains on 54. Ben Dwarshuis in now.

Ria Fackrell has a third wicket at Headingley, added to a run out. Two wickets in the ninth over and Derbyshire’s women are 54-4.

Derbyshire 48-2, 7 overs

Jessica Couser caught Erin Thomas bowled Ria Fackrell, 23.

Caught deep mid-wicket on the pull.

And Fackrell has another in the over. Lara Shaw caught and bowled 24.

Meanwhile, Worcestershire’s men are 155-2 early in the 16th over. Adam Hose has just reached his fifty ogg 33 balls and has shared a century stand with his captain, Brett D’Oliveira.

D'Oliveira 50

Worcestershire’s opener and captain Brett D’Oliveira has reached a 34-ball fifty. Worcestershire are 123-2 in the 13th over. Adam Hose is with him on 40. They have shared 74 unbroken.

Derbyshire’s women are 34-0 in the fifth over at Headingley. Great to see Jess Woolston back in action after her foot stress fracture in the winter.

It's a batter's game

One thing which has been particularly noticeable at the start of this Blast is that batting teams are just going for it. That’s not just in Yorkshire’s matches, it’s elsewhere. Notts chasing 200 plus against Bears the other night, for example.

It’s happening again here. Worcestershire are 114-2 in the 12th over, with Brett D’Oliveira 48 and Adam Hose 32.

At Headingley, Derbyshire’s women are 24-0 after three overs.

Derbyshire take 10 off the first over

A couple of boundaries in the first over for Lara Shaw.

At New Road, Worcestershire are 89-2 after nine overs. Brett D’Oliveira has 42 of them and Adam Hose 13.

About to get going at Headingley

Claudie Cooper has the new ball for Yorkshire.

D'Oliveira takes on Chohan

Brett D’Oliveira has just hit two sixes down the ground off Jafer Chohan in his first over. He now has 40 of 75-2 in the eighth over.

Worcestershire 51-2, 5.1 overs

Kashif Ali caught Will Sutherland bowled Will O’Rourke, 17.

Caught at mid-on, handing the New Zealander his first Yorkshire wicket.

Rashid four-for

Adil Rashid has taken 4-63 for England, who have bowled the West Indies out for 308 at Cardiff in the ODI.

Derbyshire win toss and bat

Adrianna Darlow has elected to have a bat first. It’s spitting again at Headingley, so fingers crossed for some play soon.

At New Road, Worcestershire are 34-1 after four overs. Brett D’Oliveira has 13 and Kashif Ali 7.

Yorkshire’s women: Erin Thomas, Georgie Boyce, Amelia Oliver, Maddie Ward c&w, Rebecca Duckworth, Ellie Nightingale, Ria Fackrell, Claudie Cooper, Jess Woolston, Holly Garton, Amelia Love.

Worcestershire 25-1, 2.5 overs

Ed Pollock caught Adam Lyth bowled Dom Bess, 12.

Sliced to short third, handing Yorkshire the breakthrough after a fast Rapids start.

Much brighter at Headingley

The toss will take place at 2.35pm at Headingley.

At New Road, Worcestershire’s men reached 6-0 at the end of the first over. Will O’Rourke sharing the new ball.

Bess opening the bowling

Dom Bess is taking the new ball for Yorkshire, while Ed Pollock and Brett D’Oliveira open the batting for Worcestershire.

Toss delayed at Headingley

The rain is delaying Yorkshire and Derbyshire up at Headingley.

Getting to know the Rapids...

Ben Dwarshuis

WORCESTERSHIRE RAPIDS

Previewed by ECB Reporters Network supported by Rothesay

Captain: Brett D’Oliveira

Overseas players: Ben Dwarshuis (Australia, full competition), Jacob Duffy (New Zealand, first eight matches)

Finals Day appearances: Two (2018, 2019)

Titles: One (2018)

2024 finish: Eighth (North Group)

2024 leading run-scorer: Ethan Brookes (321)

2024 leading wicket-taker: Tom Taylor (17)

Key winter moves: The Rapids have strengthened their bowling with overseas duo Jacob Duffy, who is available for eight games, and Ben Dwarshuis while Ben Allison has signed permanently from Essex. Dwarshuis is a tried and tested T20 all-rounder, Duffy should hit the ground running after four impressive Rothesay County Championship games while Allison will be available this season to add further depth to a handy attack. Two-time Blast winner Josh Cobb left after a one-year white-ball contract.

The big question: Can they win the close ones? T20 cricket is about fine margins and the Rapids learned that the hard way last season. Their campaign was put on the skids by four successive losses by 11 runs or less – after impressive early wins against Lancashire and Notts – and they lost a further three games in the last over when defending. Bringing in veteran Dwarshuis to pick up the tough overs and supply some late hitting seems a clever piece of business with that in mind.

Wildcard watch: Ethan Brookes. The 24-year-old showed his all-round quality in the Blast last season to be the Rapids’ leading runscorer while also chipping in with 11 wickets. His power hitting was on full display in the Rothesay County Championship at Essex earlier this season when he smacked a quickfire 88 to almost haul his side over the line against the odds.

Final thought: There’s clearly room for the Rapids to improve on last season if they can win the close ones and better a home record that saw them win just twice at Visit Worcestershire New Road. Their attack looks strong with Tom Taylor and Matt Waite sharing 54 wickets to start the red-ball season and Allison taking 21. Add in the international class of Dwarshuis and Duffy and there’s reason to be optimistic so long as the batters can put up better numbers than last term when only Brookes past 300 runs.
