Yorkshire's men and women are in action today, against Essex in the Rothesay County Championship and Northamptonshire in the Vitality Blast. We will be keeping you up to date from both York and Peterborough.

Close: Essex 248-3, 96 overs

Yorkshire fight back late in the day thanks to wickets for Ben Coad and Will Sutherland, added to one earlier in the day for Jack White.

Captain Tom Westley stood out for Essex with a patient 107 having elected to bat.

Bring your suncream!

Good morning from Clifton Park, York, where Yorkshire’s men are hosting Essex in a blockbuster Rothesay County Championship clash. Yorkshire are second from bottom in Division One, Essex a place and 14 points better off.

It’s a glorious morning, warm and sunny. We get going at 11am, with Yorkshire hoping for a replica of the dominant performance they put in at Chelmsford in May. Fingers crossed it brings a win this time instead of Essex holding on for the draw nine wickets down.

Later on, Yorkshire’s women are in Vitality Blast action against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Peterborough Town (2.30pm).

Yorkshire will qualify for Finals Day with a fifth successive victory, achieving that feat with three games to spare.

You can read our previews for both games via the embedded X posts above.

Enjoy the day.
