Live: Yorkshire Men v Hampshire, Rothesay CC, Day Four

We have reached day four of the Rothesay County Championship clash between Yorkshire and Hampshire at Headingley. Yorkshire have significant work to do to get out with a draw.

Hampshire win by 214 runs

Hampshire have won. Liam Dawson has just bowled Ben Coad. Yorkshire 211 all out.

We are next in action against Sussex at Headingley a week on Friday.

Yorkshire 197-9, 65.2 overs

Dom Bess caught Sonny Baker bowled Liam Dawson, 49.

Miscued to mid-off.

Hampshire almost there now.

Yorkshire 175-8, 58.3 overs

George Hill lbw Kyle Abbott, 52.

Abbott has 10-for in the match. Looked to be a hint of ‘too high’ about that one, though.

Logan van Beek is in alongside Dom Bess, 32.

George Hill 50

Hill crashes a second six in the 56th over, this one to long-on but a bit wider than the last.

86 balls, 7x4s and 2x6s. Well played. 170-7.

Yorkshire 157-7, 55th over

Kyle Abbott back into the attack for Hampshire.

George Hill 40 and Dom Bess 26.

Hang on, Hill has just crashed Liam Dawson over long-on for six.

He moves to 46 out of 164-7.

Yorkshire 153-7, 54 overs

George Hill 36 and Dom Bess 26.

They have added 56 for the eighth wicket through to lunch.

Yorkshire have been set a 426-target.

Hill and Bess half-century stand

Yorkshire 147-7 after 51 overs.

George Hill 36 and Dom Bess 20 have shared 50 for the eighth wicket.

They both played really nicely.

Yorkshire 124-7, 48th over

Sonny Baker and Eddie Jack are testing Dom Bess and George Hill out with the short ball tactic.

Bess has been hit on four separate occasions, including twice in the same over by Baker. The most recent two didn’t cause him any problems. The one where he got hit in the crown jewels by Baker certainly did.

Hill has 27 and Bess 8.

Bess struck again

Oh no!

Having been struck on his head with a bouncer by Sonny Baker midway through the 43rd over, Dom Bess has now been struck a painful blow a touch lower down at the end of it.

The skipper is flat on his back.

Yorkshire 107-7.

Bess takes nasty blow

Dom Bess has just been struck flush on the helmet by a Sonny Baker bouncer, and we have a delay.

Yorkshire 105-7. Bess is yet to score and George Hill has 17.

Yorkshire 97-7, 40.5 overs

Harry Duke caught Eddie Jack bowled Sonny Baker, 10.

Caught at long-leg pulling.

Dom Bess in now alongside George Hill, 9.

Yorkshire 92-6, 40th over

Harry Duke 10 and George Hill 4.

Duke starts confidently

Harry Duke has just driven Codi Yusuf through the covers for four – lovely shot – and he now has six out of 80-6.

He has been tested out with the short ball by South African pacer Yusuf but has dealt with them nicely.

Duke is going to have to carry that on for a good few hours yet if Yorkshire are going to pull this one out of the fire.

Yorkshire 71-6, 31 overs

Fin Bean lbw Kyle Abbott, 33.

Abbott picks up his fifth wicket of the innings, 12 balls into the day.

Harry Duke in now alongside George Hill, who has 3.

Play up and running

Yorkshire 65-5 faced with the target of 426.

George Hill, on one, is facing Codi Yusuf. Fin Bean at the other end on 29.

Somerset winners by 10 wickets

The only result of the round so far in Division One has seen Somerset beat Essex by 10 wickets at Taunton. Somerset chased only 47 for victory yesterday.

In Division Two, Worcestershire have beaten Middlesex at Lord’s and Durham won at Gloucestershire.

Good morning...

From Headingley, where it’s dry and bright ahead of day four.

We’re all set for a start on time at 11am.

With Yorkshire beginning the day on 65-5 chasing 426, they will need something incredibly special to get out of this one with a draw.

Hampshire have, unfortunately, played much the better cricket for the majority of this contest.

Their captain Ben Brown scored an unbeaten century yesterday before Kyle Abbott claimed four more wickets to add to the quartet he claimed in the first innings.

Fin Bean and George Hill will be at the crease this morning.

Via the links below, you can read our match report and reaction pieces from yesterday, the latter with Logan Van Beek, who claimed four wickets and had a hand in a run out yesterday. He bowled beautifully late on day two and early on day three.
