Live: Sussex v Yorkshire Men, Rothesay CC, Day One
Yorkshire's men are facing Sussex at Hove in their penultimate Rothesay County Championship match of the summer. Follow our blog for live updates throughout day one.
Further inspection at 3.30pm
The umpires will have a look again in just under 45 minutes from now.

The wind at Hove is causing the biggest problem today, with the ground-staff unable to get the covers off to start the mopping up process.

Further inspection at 2.30pm
Tea will be taken at 2.40pm.
The wait continues.
The sun is shining, the wind remains strong.
Lapping Mayank
Yorkshire’s Indian overseas batter Mayank Agarwal is walking around the boundary edge here at Hove doing some laps. And he looks a bit chilly, to say the least.
Hopefully we see him out at the crease later today. But, in truth, it’s looking unlikely.
There will be a further inspection at 1.30pm
Umpires Lungley and Shantry will look again at 1.30pm.
The sun is shining here at Hove, but winds and a wet outfield is thwarting us.
Raining now at Hove
Frustratingly, the rain is sweeping across the ground. And it’s pretty heavy too. This is going to put us back a bit.
Only one game with play
The only game with play today is the Division One top-of-the-table clash between Surrey and Nottinghamshire at the Kia Oval. Notts are 24-0 after nine overs against the league leaders.
No change in the scene at Hove
We await the umpires’ inspection at 12.40pm.
It isn’t raining here, but the covers remain in place. That’s mainly due to high winds and the safety element when it comes to the ground-staff getting the covers on and off.
DPL champions

News of Yorkshire interest from the Disability game.
The Tridents won the Disability Premier League at Loughborough on Saturday, beating the Pirates in a bowl out following wet weather.
Yorkshire players featured in both finalist teams, with Liam Thomas, Luke Riley and Henry Wainman for the Pirates, Adnan Ghani (pictured) and Curtis Sugden for the Tridents.
Both Wainman and Ghani hit the stumps before Chris Edwards provided the winning moment as Tridents ran out 2-1 winners.

Early lunch at 12pm
The umpires have called for an early lunch and then an inspection at 12.40pm.
Delayed start confirmed
If you look at the NV Play scorecard for this match, which comes directly from the scorers, there is a note on there which confirms a delayed start due to ‘high winds, wet outfield and threat of rain’.
10am inspection
The umpires, Tom Lungley and Jack Shantry, will inspect the ground once again in 40 minutes’ time.
Good morning...
From the 1st Central County Ground, Hove.
The ground is bathed in sunshine at present, but the covers are firmly in place. There was a heavy shower around half an hour ago, which soaked yours truly on the walk into the ground.
It already has the feeling, unfortunately, of a delayed start. The umpires have just been wandering the outfield, but there’s no sign of the mopping up process beginning.
When we do get going – hopefully I’m way off the mark and 10.30am is still on the cards – Yorkshire and Sussex will be aiming to secure a result which goes a long way to sealing their Division One status for 2026.
Yorkshire are nine points clear of second-bottom Durham, Sussex have a 12-point cushion.
A draw may not be a bad result for either, in truth.

We shall keep you updated with any news of start times, etc, when we get it. Enjoy the day.
