Live: Sussex Sharks v Yorkshire Men, MBODC

Yorkshire face Sussex Sharks at Hove in their penultimate Group B fixture today, and the knockouts are looming for the White Rose. One more win will almost certainly seal top spot in the group and a home semi-final next Sunday. Follow our blog for live updates to see if it can be achieved today.

YORKSHIRE WIN!!!

Yorkshire have qualified for the knockouts and are all but assured of playing a home semi-final next Sunday.

It’s not 100 percent assured just yet but 99.9 percent so. It would take a miracle for anyone else to knock Yorkshire off top spot.

That home semi-final would be at Scarborough on Sunday August 31.

Should Yorkshire end up finishing second in the group, which – as we say – looks unlikely, the quarter-final would be at Scarborough on Thursday.

Yorkshire win this one by six wickets with more than two overs to spare, our sixth win in seven games. We have 24 points.

Matthew Revis finishes 39 not out and George Hill 31. They shared an unbroken 63 for the fifth wicket.

The stars, though, Matt Milnes with a brilliant 7-38, including a hat-trick, and Imam-Ul-Haq with 106.

Outstanding yet again from the White Rose.

Yorkshire nearly there

Matthew Revis 25and George Hill 30 have advanced the score to 270-4 in the 37th over, and we need only 15 now.

A home semi-final is all but secured.

Back on track

Matthew Revis and George Hill have taken 18 off Fynn Hudson-Prentice in the 45th to take the score to 252-4.

After a little wobble, Yorkshire are back on track and need 33 more.

Revis and Hill 18 apiece.

Game on at Hove

This game has really tightened up, and from nowhere really.

Yorkshire have somewhat got stuck in recent overs. The score is 235-4 in the 45th.

The White Rose should still win, but not at a canter.

Matthew Revis and George Hill at the crease.

Yorkshire 223-4, 41.3 overs

Fin Bean caught Oli Carter bowled Danny Lamb, 7.

Pulled out to deep mid-wicket, and Yorkshire still need 62 to win.

George Hill has come to the crease now and is alongside Matthew Revis, 7.

Yorkshire 223-3, 41 overs

We need 62 more to win this one.

Matthew Revis and Fin Bean have seven apiece.

Yorkshire 207-3, 37.1 overs

James Wharton caught Fynn Hudson-Prentice bowled Sean Hunt, 85.

Caught low down at cover on the drive. Excellent knock ends in disappointment, and Sussex have a glimmer of hope having taken two wickets in five balls.

Matthew Revis and Fin Bean together.

Yorkshire 207-2, 36.3 overs

Imam-Ul-Haq caught behind John Simpson bowled Fynn Hudson-Prentice, 106.

A superb knock comes to an end via a top-edged pull. Simpson moves almost level with the stumps to take the catch.

Yorkshire need 78, with Fin Bean coming in to join James Wharton, who has a career best 85 to his name.

That wicket broke a 196 partnership as well.

HUNDRED!!!

Imam-Ul-Haq

Imam-Ul-Haq reaches his century for the third time in this competition.

This one comes off 102 balls with 9x4s and 3x6s. Fabulous knock.

Yorkshire 198-1 in the 36th over, with James Wharton 83 not out.

We need 87 more to win.

Yorkshire 157-1, 29th over

Imam-Ul-Haq 72 and James Wharton 70 have shared 146 for the second wicket and counting. They have not looked in any trouble.

Yorkshire need 128 more to win.

Middlesex have won

Middlesex have beaten Northamptonshire by four wickets chasing 190. They are amongst the chasing pack behind Yorkshire alongside Somerset, who are looking good to beat Kent at 184-2 after 31 overs chasing 270, and Warwickshire.

The latter are 138-3 after 25 overs chasing 301 to win at Durham.

Here, Yorkshire are 134-1 after 24 overs chasing 285.

Wharton and Imam 50s

James Wharton has reached his fifty off 61 balls and Imam follows him there off 54 balls, the latter pulling a six against Archie Lenham’s leg-spin to get there.

Yorkshire now 124-1 in the 22nd over.

Yorkshire 106-1, 20th over

James Wharton 47 and Imam-Ul-Haq 45.

These two have put on 95 for the second wicket to put Yorkshire in a strong position chasing 285.

They’ve been cruising along of late.

Imam 6!

Imam-Ul-Haq has just lofted Jack Carson’s off-spin over long-on for six to move to 28 out of 69-1 in the 14th over.

James Wharton has 33.

Yorkshire 51-1, 10 overs

James Wharton has 28 and Imam-Ul-Haq 15.

The target is 285.

Yorkshire settling

The White Rose chase of 285 has advanced to 34-1 in the seventh over.

Imam-Ul-Haq and James Wharton have 13 piece.

Yorkshire 11-1, 3.2 overs

Adam Lyth caught behind John Simpson bowled Fynn Hudson-Prentice, 6.

Undone on the defence, and Sussex have the early breakthrough defending a 285-target.

James Wharton is in alongside Imam-Ul-Haq.

Yorkshire 10-0, 2 overs

Adam Lyth has 5 and Imam-Ul-Haq 4.

The target is 285.

Chase of 285 up and running

An early leg bye gets things moving. Adam Lyth and Imam-Ul-Haq are facing Sean Hunt’s left-arm seam.

Around the grounds...

Durham 300-8 v Warwickshire at the Banks Homes Riverside.

Kent Spitfires 269-9 v Somerset 20-0 at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks 189 all out v Middlesex 48-2 at Wantage Road.

If any of Warwickshire, Somerset and Middlesex lose today, Yorkshire are assured of knockout cricket whatever happens here at Hove.

Milnes' magic

Matt Milnes has just recorded the third best List A figures in Yorkshire history.

Richard Hutton claimed 7-15 against Worcestershire at Headingley in the Player’s County League in 1969.

Darren Gough took 7-27 against Ireland at Headingley in the NatWest Trophy in 1997.

Sussex 284-9, 50 overs

Sussex recover well from 24-3 to post something approaching 300.

This innings was all about one man, Matt Milnes, who returned stunning figures of 7-38 from 10 overs, including a hat-trick.

We will give you details of where he sits on the list of Yorkshire’s best figures in List A cricket in a moment, but Sussex recover thanks to half-centuries from John Simpson, Oli Carter and Danny Lamb. Carter’s 94 was the best of them.

Sussex 273-9, 48.3 overs

Danny Lamb caught Adam Lyth bowled Matt Milnes, 53.

Caught pulling at deep mid-wicket.

Milnes has seven-for!

Milnes makes it a high five!

Five players have now taken List A hat-tricks for the county, of which there have been six.

Paul Jarvis, Darren Gough twice, Craig White and Matthew Revis are the others, with Matt Milnes joining the list.

Sussex are 255-8 in the 47th over.

Sussex 243-7, 44.5 overs

Matt Milnes

HAT-TRICK!!!!

Matt Milnes has just trapped Archie Lenham lbw and has six wickets.

Sussex are 243-8 in the 45th over.

Outstanding.

Sussex 243-7, 44.4 overs

Oli Carter caught Ben Cliff bowled Matt Milnes, 94.

An excellent career best innings from the Sussex back-up keeper-batter comes to a close just short of a century.

Milnes has his fourth wicket, and it comes as Carter looks to reverse and can only lob it to short third.

And Milnes has five with one next ball. Jack Carson is caught at long-on.

Danny Lamb remains on 31.

10 overs remaining

Sussex are 201-5 are now looking beyond the 250 we mentioned earlier.

They have recovered this innings very impressively, with Oli Carter at the heart of that.

He’s unbeaten on a career best 73.

Carter 50

Oli Carter reaches hi fifty in 56 balls and has helped Sussex recovery from 24-3.

They are 175-5 in the 37th over.

Around the grounds...

Kent 194-5 in the 39th at home to Somerset.

Northamptonshire 176-7 in the 34th at home to Middlesex.

Sussex 163-5, 33.5 overs

That wicket ends a 79-run partnership.

Sussex 125-4 in the 30th over.

Sussex 114-4, 27 overs

John Simpson and Oli Carter have just taken 16 off Dan Moriarty in the 27th over, including two fours and a Carter six over long-on.

Simpson 46, Carter 16.

Sussex 97-4, 25 overs

We’re halfway through the Sussex innings, and you feel like they’re aiming for around 250 tops here after an unsettled start.

Yorkshire continue to impress in this campaign, and Matt Milnes has stood out so far with three cheap wickets.

John Simpson the key for the hosts. He has 36 alongside Oli Carter, 8.

Sussex 84-4, 21.2 overs

Charlie Tear caught James Wharton bowled Ben Cliff, 35.

Caught by Wharton in the deep, just in front of square on the leg-side.

Timely wicket for Yorkshire just to stymie the recovery. Cliff’s first over back, too.

Sussex 72-3, 19 overs

This game is being played on a used pitch, the same one on which Sussex have played their last two games prior to this.

Sussex 58-3, 17th over

Charlie Tear has 29 and captain John Simpson 12.

The hosts are in the early stages of a recovery job from 24-3.

One Matt replaces another

Charlie Tear has 13 and John Simpson 3.

George Hill is into the attack from the Cromwell Road End and is bowling his second over.

Sussex 24-3, 6.4 overs

Another which looked very out.

Milnes has struck three times in six balls, and Yorkshire are motoring.

Sussex 18-2, 5 overs

Tom Clark lbw Matt Milnes, 0.

Two in two balls for Milnes. Very out, stuck on the crease.

Clark has pretty much walked before the decision was made.

Sussex 18-1, 4.5 overs

Tom Haines caught behind Harry Duke bowled Matt Milnes, 12.

Haines feels for one outside off-stump and is caught behind by Duke going to his left.

Tom Clark in now alongside Charlie Tear, 5.

Sussex 9-0, 2 overs

Ben Cliff is sharing the new ball for Yorkshire.

Milnes with the new ball

Matt Milnes has the new ball for Yorkshire.

He’s bowling to Charlie Tear. Tom Haines is the other Sussex opener.

Sussex win it and bat

Yorkshire: Adam Lyth, Imam-Ul-Haq, Matthew Revis, James Wharton, Fin Bean, Harry Duke  w, George Hill, Dom Bess c, Matt Milnes, Ben Cliff, Dan Moriarty.

Matthew Revis back from Hundred duty.

Three games to watch out for

The other three games which matter to Yorkshire today are Durham v Warwickshire, Kent v Somerset and Northamptonshire v Middlesex.

Good morning...

From The 1st Central County Ground, Hove.

It’s a glorious morning on the South Coast ahead of an 11am start for game number seven of eight in Group B.

Yorkshire have won five of six so far and are nearly there in terms of the knockouts.

They’re likely to seal a top-three finish with the haul of 20 points they currently have, added to a strong net run-rate.

The only way Yorkshire could finish outside of the top three is if they lose today and at Kent on Tuesday and all of Somerset, Warwickshire and Middlesex win both of their remaining games.

So, that would be eight results having to go against the White Rose both today and Tuesday.

A reminder, the top three qualify for the knockouts, which are made up of two semi-finals and two quarter-finals. The second and third teams in Group A and B advance to the quarters, which are scheduled for next Thursday.

They face off for the right to play a semi-final away at the winners of each group, which would be next Sunday.

And Yorkshire are in an incredibly strong position to achieve top spot in Group B. Given the strength of their net run-rate, which is far and away better than that of any of their rivals, one more win would almost certainly secure it.

Yorkshire beat Durham by 212 runs at Scarborough on Friday, a game which saw Ben Coad pick up a hamstring injury. He will be scanned on Tuesday, so won’t be involved here or at Canterbury on Tuesday.

Sussex, currently sat fifth in the group on 12 points – four behind Somerset, Warwickshire and Middlesex, realistically need to win their last two games to have any chance of progression.

Enjoy the day.
