Derbyshire have sealed it thanks to Caleb Jewell and Wayne Madsen, who have posted 41 and 51 respectively.

Yorkshire’s eighth defeat in 12 in the North Group means they are out of quarter-final contention.

Madsen finished the match, and reached his fifty off 28 balls, with a six over long-on off Jafer Chohan.

The Falcons need 40 more, with Caleb Jewell 36 and Wayne Madsen 12. The latter has just been hit in the helmet by a Jordan Thompson bouncer.

Yorkshire Women v Northamptonshire Steelbacks – Vitality Blast Preview

From Headingley, where it’s another scorcher of a day.

It’s double header day in the Vitality Blast.

Kicking us off are Yorkshire’s women. 

In their Tier 2 competition, they face Northamptonshire Steelbacks from 11am. Already qualified for Finals Day on July 26 with three games to play, it’s about fine-tuning for the White Rose. They have won five from five so far.

Yorkshire’s men are bidding for back-to-back wins in the Blast after a superb win over Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday night. They are also aiming for some revenge after losing to Derbyshire Falcons at Chesterfield last Sunday. That game gets going at 3pm. 

Yorkshire could win and be knocked out today, though that scenario is unlikely in the sense that the top four teams in the North, who all sit on 28 points, play each other today.

Lancashire Lightning host Durham at Emirates Old Trafford, while the Bears host Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Wantage Road. The only way in which Yorkshire could win and be knocked out would be for the other two games to finish tied, taking them all to 30 points. That’s a mark Yorkshire can’t reach.
