Close. Yorkshire 414-6, 151 overs
Yorkshire end day three 73 runs in arrears after a hugely positive day of batting.
Fin Bean stood out with his 224 and was one of only three wickets to fall in the day. Jonny Bairstow made 41 and Matthew Revis an unbeaten 54.
George Hill will begin day four alongside him on 4.
Yorkshire 407-6, 146.3 overs
Fin Bean caught Freddie McCann bowled Farhan Ahmed, 224.
What an innings, but it’s ended as he tries to turn Ahmed’s off-spin to leg and gets a leading edge which loops to slip.
Bean has faced 489 balls. It’s not the longest innings balls faced wise in Yorkshire history. Martyn Moxon faced 490 against Worcester in 1994 for a career best 274 not out, and not all high innings in the county’s history were fully recorded. So some scorecards show minutes and not balls faced.
George Hill joins Matthew Revis at the crease. The latter is 52 not out.
Revis 50
Matthew Revis has posted his first fifty of 2025, off 132 balls.
Yorkshire have moved 403-5 after 145 overs. Six more to bowl this evening. Fin Bean has 222, with Yorkshire 84 in arrears.
Excellent.

Yorkshire avoid the follow-on

Yorkshire 277-5, 101.1 overs
Jonny Bairstow lbw Liam Patterson-White, 41.
Trapped in front pushing forwards at the left-arm spinner.
Bairstow was the subject of a big appeal for similar in Patterson-White’s previous over, but he doesn’t survive this one.
That ends a partnership of 101. Matthew Revis in now alongside Fin Bean, who has 152.
Bean 150
Fin Bean reaches his 150 off 348 balls with 23 fours. Fabulous stuff.
He has also shared a fifth-wicket century stand of 101 with Jonny Bairstow, who has 41 out of 277-4. Yorkshire trail by 210.
England plough on at Headingley

Perfectly set up at Headingley

It couldn’t be more perfectly set up.
Batting coach Sadler on Bean

Yorkshire batting coach John Sadler also did some media last night with BBC Radio Leeds.
He said: “I’m delighted for Beany. He played beautifully. The way he went about his business was fantastic.
“Beany’s character is very, very strong, which is what you want in these times. We all go through – anybody who’s played the game at any level – periods where runs don’t flow as easily as other times. But he’s stayed true to himself and true to his beliefs.
“He’s stayed true to what he’s done well in the past, and it’s shown. The wheel always turns if you put the work in and do the hard yards behind the scenes. Eventually, it always comes good for people. And he’s too good a player for it not to come good.
“The big thing was to make sure he kept belief. There is a difference between belief and confidence. Confidence can fluctuate a bit. It’s a bit more in the moment, here and now. But as long as the belief stays strong, which it absolutely has done with Beany, then that’s going to stand you in good stead. Everyone’s delighted.”

Good morning...
From Trent Bridge, where the sun is trying to poke through the clouds. There’s patchy blue sky, and we’re all set for a start on time at 11am.
The first port of call today will hopefully be a Fin Bean century. He sits on 86 not out as Yorkshire resume on 154-3 in reply to Nottinghamshire’s 487.
It will be his first century in a year and a day if he gets there. His last was 164 on the first day of Yorkshire’s clash with Gloucestershire at Scarborough last year. That was Yorkshire’s eighth match of the season and their first win as they got on a roll in the second half of the season and clinched promotion.
Maybe, this knock here helps Yorkshire do the same during the second half of this season, though the aim is different – Division One survival.
He will begin the day with Dan Moriarty alongside him as nightwatchman. Jonny Bairstow is next in.

Enjoy the day.
