Perfectly set up at Headingley

England, chasing 371 to beat India, will begin day five on 21-0, needing 350 more to win.

It couldn’t be more perfectly set up.

Batting coach Sadler on Bean

Yorkshire batting coach John Sadler also did some media last night with BBC Radio Leeds.

He said: “I’m delighted for Beany. He played beautifully. The way he went about his business was fantastic.

“Beany’s character is very, very strong, which is what you want in these times. We all go through – anybody who’s played the game at any level – periods where runs don’t flow as easily as other times. But he’s stayed true to himself and true to his beliefs.

“He’s stayed true to what he’s done well in the past, and it’s shown. The wheel always turns if you put the work in and do the hard yards behind the scenes. Eventually, it always comes good for people. And he’s too good a player for it not to come good.

“The big thing was to make sure he kept belief. There is a difference between belief and confidence. Confidence can fluctuate a bit. It’s a bit more in the moment, here and now. But as long as the belief stays strong, which it absolutely has done with Beany, then that’s going to stand you in good stead. Everyone’s delighted.”

Good morning...

From Trent Bridge, where the sun is trying to poke through the clouds. There’s patchy blue sky, and we’re all set for a start on time at 11am.

The first port of call today will hopefully be a Fin Bean century. He sits on 86 not out as Yorkshire resume on 154-3 in reply to Nottinghamshire’s 487.

It will be his first century in a year and a day if he gets there. His last was 164 on the first day of Yorkshire’s clash with Gloucestershire at Scarborough last year. That was Yorkshire’s eighth match of the season and their first win as they got on a roll in the second half of the season and clinched promotion.

Maybe, this knock here helps Yorkshire do the same during the second half of this season, though the aim is different – Division One survival.

He will begin the day with Dan Moriarty alongside him as nightwatchman. Jonny Bairstow is next in.

Enjoy the day.
