Good morning...
From Wantage Road, Northampton, where it’s a glorious day ahead of Yorkshire’s penultimate Metro Bank One-Day Cup group fixture – against the Steelbacks.
We’ve reached crunch stage in the race for qualification for the semi-finals.
Both of these teams currently sit in the all-important top four places. Northamptonshire are second and Yorkshire fourth.
The top four teams after seven of eight games are Middlesex on 33 points, Northamptonshire 29, Glamorgan 28 and Yorkshire 20.
A reminder, it’s a maximum five points for a win, so we still have 10 to play for.
Directly below Yorkshire are Worcestershire Rapids, also on 20 points but with an inferior net run-rate.
They face Glamorgan today and Middlesex on Saturday in their last two games. Yorkshire travel to face second-bottom Kent at Canterbury on Saturday.
Yorkshire won last time out at Gloucestershire last Saturday, by 150 runs. That was their fourth win in seven.
It also ended a three-game losing streak across the competitions, which ironically started with a defeat to Middlesex in the Vitality Blast final at the end of July on this ground.
You can read our preview for this game, with Ami Campbell, via the link above.
We get going at 10.30am.
Enjoy the day.
