Live: Leicestershire v Yorkshire Men, Rothesay CC, Day Two

Leicestershire enjoyed the better of day one at the Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road. Can Yorkshire fight back on day two? Follow this page for live updates.

Close. Yorkshire 32-2, 16 overs

Yorkshire trail by 236 in their second innings, with Sam Whiteman 8 and James Wharton 9.

Plenty of work to do on day three for the White Rose.

Yorkshire 18-2, 11 overs

Five more to be bowled tonight as Yorkshire bid to survive first of all and then eat into the deficit tomorrow.

James Wharton and Sam Whiteman are at the crease.

Yorkshire 12-2. 6.6 overs

Will Luxton caught Sheridon Gumbs bowled Josh Davey, 3.

Low catch going away to his right at third slip.

Sam Whiteman in now alongside Adam Lyth, who has 7.

Oh no…

Lyth has been caught at leg-slip at the end of the over for 7.

James Wharton in now.

Yorkshire 11-0, 6 overs

We have 10 overs remaining in the day. Whether we see them all is debatable.

The light is fading once more after a period of sunshine.

Yorkshire are 257 behind.

Yorkshire 1-0, 1st over

Adam Lyth and Will Luxton are opening once more.

Josh Davey has the new ball. The White Rose are away with a leg bye off Lyth’s thigh pad.

Leicestershire 453 all out, 113.4 overs

Ben Green bowled Dan Moriarty, 18,.

Alex Green caught behind Jonny Bairstow three balls later.

Leicestershire lead by 268 overs, and Yorkshire will have to face 16 overs before close.

Dan Moriarty finishes with 4-85.

Leicestershire 449-8, 110.4 overs

Two wickets in the over.

Joey Evison run out Ben Cliff, 55.

Pushed into mid-wicket, mix up with Ben Green and Cliff on as sub fielder throws down the stumps at the non-striker’s.

Then Dom Bess gets Josh Davey caught at mid-on later in the over.

Leicestershire 448-6, 110 overs

Leicestershire miss out on a fifth bonus point by two runs having needed six off the 110th from Hassan Ali.

Yorkshire finish with two bowling points.

Evison 50

Joey Evison has reached his fifty off 83 balls.

Leicestershire are 434-6 in the 107th over.

We have just under 26 overs left in the day, though it would be no surprise if we got some bad light. The floodlights have been on all day, and it’s getting a bit gloomy.

Leicestershire 403-6, 98.6 overs

Nick Kelly lbw Dom Bess, 121.

An excellent innings is ended, and Leicestershire’s lead is 218.

Ben Green in now alongside Joey Evison, who has 25.

Leicestershire 381-5, 93rd over

Joey Evison has just edged the first ball of the evening, from George Hill, for four wide of the slips.

Leicestershire’s lead is 196.

Hill has just responded by rapping Evison on the pads, with everyone going up in unison.

It feels like Yorkshire have had a lot of confident lbw appeals turned down.

Tea. Leicestershire 377-5, 92 overs

Leicestershire plough on, unfortunately.

They now lead by 192, with Nick Kelly unbeaten on 114 and Joey Evison 8.

We still have 40 overs remaining in the day.

Kelly 100

Nick Kelly has just reached his century off 167 balls.

Leicestershire, at 360-5, lead by 175.

We will be taking tea at 4pm.

Leicestershire 329-5, 80.5 overs

Ben Cox bowled Hassan Ali, 30.

Good ball. Pushed forward and beaten. Also seemed to do him for pace.

Joey Evison in now alongside Nick Kelly, who has 74.

New ball...

Leicestershire are 327-4, 80 overs. They lead by 142, with Nick Kelly 73 and Ben Cox 30.

Hassan Ali has taken the new ball.

Leicestershire 314-4, 77th over

New ball due soon, and it realistically has to work for Yorkshire.

The Foxes lead by 129, with Nick Kelly 70 and Ben Cox 20.

Leicestershire 285-4, 68.1 overs

Rehan Ahmed caught Sam Whiteman bowled Matthew Revis, 128.

Flayed a drive, one hand off the bat, to cover.

That breaks a 160-stand with Nick Kelly, who remains on 61.

Leicestershire are 100 in front. Ben Cox has just come to the crease.

Kelly 50

Nick Kelly has reached his fifty off 107 balls.

Leicestershire 262-3. Played nicely. More compact innings than Rehan’s.

Leicestershire 253-3, 62 overs

Dan Moriarty has just bowled the first over after lunch, with Matthew Revis to follow.

Rehan Ahmed has 114 and Nick Kelly 44.

The lead is 68 for the hosts.

Lunch. Leicestershire 253-3, 61 overs

The hosts lead by 68, with Rehan Ahmed on 114 and Nick Kelly 44.

They have batted through a shortened morning unbroken, sharing 128 for the fourth wicket.

Bairstow turns to spin

Dan Moriarty is into the attack for the first time today.

We have 10 minutes until lunch, and Leicestershire are 250-3, leading by 65.

Rehan Ahmed has 112 and Nick Kelly 43.

Rehan 100

Rehan Ahmed has reached his century off 128 balls.

Fine knock as Leicestershire increase the pressure on Yorkshire, moving to 232-3.

They lead by 47.

Leicestershire 217-3, 51st over

Rehan Ahmed has moved to 92 and Nick Kelly has 32.

The Foxes’ lead is 32, and Yorkshire badly need a wicket or even two.

We have lost five overs

Back underway. We have 87 overs remaining in the day.

Leicestershire are 200-3.

Lunch to be taken at 1.15pm.

Rain has passed

The covers are coming off now.

There will be a 12.05pm restart.

Rain. Leicestershire 200-3, 45th over

It’s pretty heavy, too.

The full covers are coming on.

Leicestershire lead

The Foxes have moved to 196-3 in the 44th over, the third of the day. They now lead by 11.

The floodlights are on here. The locals suggest we will be lucky to get through the morning session without some rain. We shall see.

Rehan Ahmed has 74 and Nick Kelly 31, with Jack White and Hassan Ali having taken up the attack for the White Rose.

Leicestershire 181-3, 42nd over

Nick Kelly has just pushed Jack White down the ground for an early boundary to move to 29.

Leicestershire’s deficit is now just four.

A touch of rain...

It’s gone quite dark here, and the ground-staff are putting the cover on the pitch. The players continue to warm up, though.

Fingers crossed it won’t delay us.

And now it’s being removed. Good news.

Good morning....

From the Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road, where it’s another warm day.

The sun isn’t beating down just yet, and leaving the hotel half an hour or so ago there was even a sprinkling of rain. It was quite a welcome shower, to be honest, given the temperature. The morning falls into the ‘muggy’ category at present.

Yorkshire have work to do when we get going at 11am. Leicestershire are 177-3, trailing by only eight.

Rehan Ahmed will resume on 62 and Nick Kelly on 25. Those two played aggressively last night.

Fingers crossed, these conditions remain for the morning session and Yorkshire can get the ball zipping about and make significant inroads.

Enjoy the day.
