Yorkshire’s Jay Singh has been named in the England Men’s Under 19s squad for their first Test match against India which starts on Saturday. 

A 15-player squad has been selected for the first Test of the series which will take place at the County Ground in Beckenham.

Right-armer Singh is having his first taste of England honours this season, having been included in the England U19’s Invitational Squad earlier in the year.

Warwickshire batter Hamza Shaikh has been named as England captain for the opening Test match.

Shaikh returns as skipper after he led the U19s for the first time against Sri Lanka last summer. The 19-year-old was not part of the U19s tour to South Africa in the winter after he was called into the Lions squad.

Hamza Shaikh (Warwickshire – captain), Tazeem Ali (Warwickshire), Jaydn Denly (Kent), Rocky Flintoff (Lancashire), Alex French (Surrey), Alex Green (Leicestershire), Jack Home (Worcestershire), Ben Mayes (Hampshire), Sebastian Morgan (Hampshire), James Minto (Durham), Thomas Rew (Somerset), Aaryan Sawant (Middlesex), Ekansh Singh (Kent), Jay Singh (Yorkshire), Archie Vaughan (Somerset).

1st Youth Test: England Men U19s v India Men U19s – The County Ground, Beckenham; 12-15 July
2nd Youth Test: England Men U19s v India Men U19s – The Ambassador Cruise Line Ground, Chelmsford; 20-23 July
