The day could hardly have been more bittersweet for Matthew Revis as his first ever hat-trick at any level of cricket failed to produce a Metro Bank One-Day Cup win for Yorkshire against champions Kent at Scarborough today.

Ben Coad’s superb three-wicket new ball spell and a Matthew Revis hat-trick were not enough to prevent Yorkshire from losing today’s rainy Metro Bank One-Day Cup opener by just two runs against champions Kent Spitfires at Scarborough.

Ben Coad returned a brilliant 3-16 from 10 overs bowled straight through with the new ball and Matthew Revis later took a hat-trick - but centuries for Joey Evison and opener Ben Compton recovered champions Kent from 49-4 to post 282-9 in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup opener at Scarborough.
