Jonny Tattersall continued his productive start to 2022 with a superb 191 for York on Saturday, while Ben Coad stepped up his return from a groin injury with three wickets for Townville.

Tattersall helped the Clifton Park side to their second Yorkshire Premier League North win as he underpinned the hosts’ 389-5 from 50 overs against an Acomb side including Yorkshire Disability captain James O’Conner.

In defence, York bowled out Acomb for 166, securing a 223-run success.

Wicketkeeper batter Tattersall has been opening the batting for York and hit 77 in their opening week win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

He also posted 75 in Yorkshire’s opening round Second XI Championship win over Northamptonshire at Bradford Park Avenue last month.

On Saturday, Tattersall hit 25 fours and four sixes in a 142-ball innings.

Coad was making only his second appearance of any kind in 2022 after suffering a groin injury on Yorkshire’s pre-season tour in March.

Playing in the Bradford Premier League on Saturday, in a bid to prove his fitness for this week’s Championship game at Essex, Coad claimed 3-29 in Townville’s 180-run win over a Bradford and Bingley outfit including his county colleague Will Luxton.

Coad’s trio of wickets in his 11.3 overs did not include the scalp of Luxton, who made six at the top of the order as Bradford and Bingley were bowled out for 114 in 36 overs chasing 295.

Earlier, the new ball seamer, who is closing in on 200 first-class career wickets, had hit an unbeaten 27 down the order as Townville made 294-7 from their 50 overs.
