Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to confirm Finlay Bean has signed a new two-year contract extension, keeping him at Headingley until 2028.
The 23-year-old, who made his first team debut in 2022, has become a dependable force at the top of the Yorkshire order.
In 43 first class matches for the White Rose to date, Bean has scored 2,422 first-class runs with six centuries, the highlight of which was his mammoth 224 against Nottinghamshire, last year.
He’s also showed his versatility across formats, crashing 102* off 57 balls in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Scarborough in August, breaking the record for Yorkshire’s fastest ever List A century.
At the top of the order, Bean has built a dependable opening partnership with Adam Lyth; the pair have put on at least 50 runs for the first wicket 27 times.
The left-hander, a product of Studley Royal CC, said, “I’m naturally delighted to be signing this new deal. My journey into professional cricket hasn’t always been straightforward, but the belief shown in me by Yorkshire and the coaches has played a huge role in helping me reach this point.
“Whilst last year didn’t always go to plan, it taught me a great deal. I’ve had the chance to focus on key areas in Australia over the winter which has both proved incredibly valuable and will stand me in good stead for the future.”
“The next couple of years are exciting – not just for me personally but for the team as a whole. We’re clear on what we want to achieve together and I’m really looking forward to seeing how far this group can go.”
Gavin Hamilton, General Manager of Cricket, added: “Fin has firmly established himself as a proven performer at this level, and has fully repaid our faith in him over the last couple of seasons. We’re absolutely delighted that he has committed his future to Yorkshire as we move into the next phase of the team’s development.
“He is a fantastic character to have in the dressing room and consistently drives high standards throughout the group.
“We’re confident he’ll continue to deliver at the top of the order as he has done now on a consistent basis, and we’re excited to see him wear the White Rose over the next two years.”
