Scorecard

The start was delayed by an hour and the new Academy captain, Ben Birkhead won the toss and elected to bat.

Birkhead and James Wharton put together an opening stand of 50 from 87 balls before Wharton was the first wicket to fall. Three further runs were added before Birkhead went for 29 and Anjum to leave the Academy on 53 for 3. An excellent 4th wicket partnership of 109 from 143 balls between Tom Loten and George Hill with both batsmen reaching half centuries helped the Academy towards a respectable total. Hill top scored with 60 from 82 balls with 4 fours when he was dismissed with the score on 162 to the last ball of the 41st over, 50 from 65 balls. Loten was the 5th wicket to fall for 51 at 174, from 71 balls with 3 fours and reached his own 50 from 69 balls. Unfortunately the rest of the batsmen fail to contribute and the Academy were 198 all out with two run outs off the last two balls of the 50 overs.

The best bowler for York was the captain Daniel Woods with 4 for 50 from his allocated 13 overs.

There was a further rain interruption at tea so Duckworth Lewis Stern came into the equation with the York target reduced to 184 from 42 overs.

The openers Jonathan Tattersall and Duncan Snell got off to a flyer with an excellent partnership of 139 from 157 balls before Tattersall was bowled by Eddie Barnes for 68 from 88 balls with 7 fours, 50 from 56 balls. Snell reached his 50 from 63 balls. Bad light caused play to be abandoned with the York total on 143 for 1 from 29 overs and they were well ahead on DLS. Snell unbeaten on 61 for 84 balls with 7 fours and a six.

York won by 9 wickets (DLS method).
