After rain washed out day two captain Matthew Waite and Matthew Revis resumed the Yorkshire 2nd XI innings on 287 for 4. They put on a stand of 98 from 198 balls before Waite was dismissed for 100 the ball after reaching his century from 154 balls with 10 fours. From 335 for 5, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Yorkshire 2nd XI were 369 all out just before lunch. The best bowler for the visitors was Russell with 5 for 83 from 30 overs.
In the reply openers Cronie and Jeffries put together a stand of 38 before Cronie fell and Jeffries was dismissed with the score on 65. The third wicket went with the total on 85 and at tea were 92 for 5. After the resumption the 6th wicket fell at 95. Buchake and Keast shared a partnership of 47 for the seventh wicket before Keast was out. Northamptonshire 2nd XI were dismissed for 169 from 53.2 overs.
Jack Shutt had figures of 5 for 39 from 14.2 overs with 2 maidens. The other wickets were shared between Dominic Leech 1 for 41, Tom Loten 2 for 17, Matthew Revis 1 for 37 and Ben Cliff 1 for 18.
Yorkshire 2nd XI enforced the follow on with the deficit 200 runs. In the 13 overs that remained Northamptonshire 2nd XI closed on 26 for one wicket, with Revis getting Jeffries lbw.
The visitors go into day 4 still 174 runs behind with 9 wickets in hand.
