Yorkshire moved to the top of the Second Eleven Championship table following this 160 run victory against Lancashire with a game against Kent at Folkestone next week to come.

Lancashire resumed at 33-1 and it was Harry Sullivan who struck in consecutive balls to dismiss Shetty, well caught at extra cover by Matthew Fisher and Mahmood, again well taken at short leg by Will Luxton. In his next over he had Dickinson caught behind by Harry Duke and Lancashire were 50-4.
Opener, Harry Singh, battled away but he became 16 year old Harvey Rounds first victim when he was trapped lbw shortly after Harry Sullivan had dismissed Carney to claim his fourth victim. Josh Sullivan had Watson lbw and Lancashire were 78-7.

O’Sullivan and Selby added 44 in 57 deliveries when just before lunch Selby was run out at the non strikers end by Josh Sullivan – lunch 122-8.

O’Sullivan played some attacking shots and reached fifty from 56 balls but was bowled by Josh Sullivan for 52 and it was Harry Sullivan who claimed his fourth “5 for” by having Birkman caught by Fisher and victory was sealed.

Match Report: Yorkshire 2nd XI vs Essex, 2nd XI Championship

Essex won the toss and elected to bowl. Finlay Bean and Will Bennison opened cautiously adding 33 when at the end of the 10th over the bowler Newman got a touch on a straight drive from Bean and unfortunately Bennison was out of his ground – run out for 18. Harry Duke was caught at slip for 3 and Jawad Akhtar departed in the same way for 6.
