Spin wizard Sarah signs on at Headingley
Yorkshire are hoping Sarah Glenn will help them put opponents in a spin next year.
The White Rose county have pulled off the statement signing of the England leg-spinning all-rounder on a two-year contract ahead of 2026, and she joins an already exciting spin department.
Glenn will link up with the likes of Claudie Cooper, Ria Fackrell, Jess Jonassen and Olivia Thomas at Headingley as the county move into Tier 1.
A product of the Derbyshire system, Glenn has joined from The Blaze but has played domestic cricket in Australia and New Zealand.
She was a Hundred winner with the London Spirit in 2024, claiming 13 wickets along the way – the second best haul in the competition.
Aged 26, Glenn is closing in on 100 international caps for England across T20 and 50-over cricket since debuting in December 2019. She is currently preparing for the 50-over World Cup in India and Sri Lanka later this month.
Head coach Rich Pyrah has described the addition of a player with Glenn’s experience as “gold”.
Speaking of gold, she links up with a squad which has just triumphed in the Tier 2 Metro Bank One-Day Cup. And there is no doubt that during her time in God’s Own County, she will be confident of adding to that haul.
Glenn’s ability as a bowler is her main suit, but she is also a very dangerous lower middle order batter with five List A fifties to her name.
The last of those came in May 2021, a blistering 71 not out for the Central Sparks against the Northern Diamonds at Headingley to win a Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy game from nowhere.
She has played alongside both Lauren Winfield-Hill in an England shirt and Australian overseas signing Jonassen in the colours of the Brisbane Heat.
