LvB chasing success in the RCC
Dutch international all-rounder Logan van Beek is returning to county cricket to boost Yorkshire’s bid for a fast start to the new summer.
A former junior international basketball player, he will aim to stand tall in the opening eight Rothesay County Championship matches of 2026.
Fast bowling is van Beek’s main suit, though he is a more than handy batter down the order, highlighted by having two first-class centuries to his name. He is right-armer when it comes to both disciplines.
Yorkshire will be the 35-year-old’s fourth county having previously represented Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Worcestershire since 2019.
As an overseas, he helped Leicestershire gain promotion to Division One of the Championship last season. Division Two promotion followed by a Division One title would be quite the personal achievement.
Van Beek was born in New Zealand – Christchurch, in fact – and has represented the Kiwis both at Under 19s and A-team level.
He also represented New Zealand at age-group basketball level.
However, he holds a Dutch passport courtesy of parentage and switched allegiances prior to making his senior international debut for the men in Orange in early 2014.
He has gone on to play 64 times for the Netherlands across both ODI and T20I cricket, featuring at World Cups along the way.
Van Beek is in the Netherlands’ squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Indian and Sri Lanka.
His grandfather Sam Guillen played Test Cricket for both New Zealand and the West Indies in the 1950s.
At time of writing, he has 289 wickets from 101 first-class matches, the majority of which have come for Canterbury and Wellington in NZ. He currently plays his domestic cricket for the latter.
He helped Canterbury win the four-day and one-day state double in 2016/17
Van Beek is an up and at them seamer who has taken 10 hauls of five wickets or more in his first-class career to date, including a best of 6-46.
He struck 34 times in 13 Championship appearances for Leicestershire last season.
Van Beek is also within 100 runs of 3,000 in his first-class career and has a best of 111 not out to his name.
He will bring both skill and experience to a Yorkshire side who will hope to be well placed in the Division One table when he is due to depart in mid-June.
Ironically, his last game for Yorkshire is due to be against Leicestershire at the Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road. Given the timing of the deal, he would be available to play in the Vitality Blast should the need arise.
