Claudie will put ’em in a spin

Off-spinner Claudie Cooper made the move north from Surrey, on a two-year deal ahead of 2025, and she hit the ground running upon arriving at Headingley.

She played a key role in Yorkshire’s run to the final of the Vitality Blast 2 last summer and also the capture of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup 2 title.

Cooper, 23-years-old, made her senior county debut for her home county in 2019 and took 58 wickets for them in all cricket. Wearing the White Rose in 2025, she struck 34 times with the ball across both List A and T20 cricket with a best of 3-22.

She was superb in the field as well, and she also had the happy knack of striking in her very first over with the ball.

The Guildford-born twirler signed her maiden professional contract at Headingley and was one of seven in the Yorkshire squad to have done that ahead of 2025.

Cooper came through the Surrey age-groups from Under 13s onwards and played senior regional cricket for the South East Stars and has been a squad member with the Oval Invincibles in the Hundred. Cooper debuted for the Stars in 2023, during the 2024 summer she claimed a career best of 4-5 whilst opening the bowling for Surrey in a County T20 Cup win over Suffolk.

She is a versatile bowler in that she is comfortable bowling in any phase of the game.

Cooper’s talent was spotted by Lauren Winfield-Hill, who spent time with her in the Invincibles set-up. She recommended the offie to the Yorkshire hierarchy. It proved quite the recommendation.
