AMI CAMPBELL – THE BIG HITTER WHO CAN’T STAY AWAY
Powerful left-handed batter Ami Campbell just can’t stay away from Headingley.
A Northern Diamond during the first two years of the regional era, Campbell spent three campaigns with the Central Sparks before the pull of Yorkshire life proved too great.
Campbell, aged 33, has signed a three-year contract to play for Yorkshire Women ahead of 2025, describing this as “one of the best clubs in the world”.
“I was at University at Leeds, and it feels like a second home for me,” she said.
Campbell played in three regional finals; two for the Diamonds and one for Edgbaston-based Sparks.
She has played county cricket for Yorkshire, Durham and Worcestershire and in the Hundred for the Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals.
Campbell has a List A best of 135 to her name and has scored 2,641 senior runs across 50-over and T20 cricket in her career.
The left-hander has the ability to take attacks apart in the top order, be it as an opener or further down.
As a player with previous experience of being a full-time pro, as she was with the Sparks, Campbell will provide valuable guidance for some of the younger players in Yorkshire’s squad.
Ami’s Huddersfield-born father Chris and her uncle Nigel both played Minor Counties cricket for Northumberland.
