Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) – the community arm of The Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) – have announced a new partnership with Kidd3r, a fast-growing online marketplace for pre-loved sports kit.
The collaboration aims to enhance the Foundation’s Cric-Kit recycling programme and increase accessibility into the sport for individuals and families, reinforcing YCF’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
Through this joint effort, YCF and Kidd3r will provide a dedicated platform that connects those in need with second-hand cricket equipment. Kidd3r’s innovative online marketplace will complement YCF’s existing physical kit drop-off hubs, making it easier for a wider audience to sell, buy, swap, and donate cricket equipment.
Kendal James, Head of Participation for the YCF and founder of Cric-Kit, said: “We are excited to join forces with Kidd3r in our ongoing efforts to make cricket more accessible.
“We’ve been working with The Centre for Sustainable Design at the University for the Creative Arts on research into the Cric-Kit initiative demonstrating the social, environmental, and economic impacts that can be achieved through facilitating reuse. This is closely aligned with Kidd3r’s mission, and the platform will help us to support that research.
“The Cric-Kit initiative has already made great strides, and this partnership will help us expand our reach even further. We invite other sports organisations to consider working with Kidd3r to enhance accessibility and effectively measure their social impact, and we encourage all Cricket Clubs to use Kidd3r to provide the opportunity for pre-loved cricket kit to be reused.”

The Cric-Kit initiative, launched in collaboration with Zero Waste Leeds in September 2022, serves as the Foundation’s flagship program for promoting the reuse of cricket kit and raising awareness about participation barriers in local communities. By encouraging frequent donations and facilitating the reuse of sports clothing, the initiative aims to create a culture of sustainability and accessibility in cricket.
The partnership with Kidd3r brings cutting-edge technology to the table, as their online marketplace will play a crucial role in measuring the impact of YCF’s campaign. By tracking increased participation and cricket accessibility across the region, this collaboration will enhance the foundation’s ability to promote inclusivity and measure its social impact.

England and Yorkshire cricketer, Harry Brook, has generously donated a pair of his cricket pads which is being used to help launch the partnership between YCF and Kidd3r. Individuals who upload their second-hand cricket kit onto the Kidd3r marketplace in August, September and October 2023 will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win the famous cricketer’s pads.
