The Yorkshire Cricket College are still actively recruiting for their NCFE Level Three Extended Diploma in Sport which will commence in September 2020.

The two-year course is based exclusively at Emerald Headingley Stadium, and working in partnership with education provider SCL offers students aged 16-18 the chance to learn in a professional sporting environment.

Combined with theoretical study, students have numerous opportunities to gain practical experience within a number of departments across Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

There is particular emphasis on ensuring students have multiple cricket opportunities outside of the classroom and Yorkshire Country Cricket Club play an active role in ensuring students have access to unique learning experiences.

With a number of international tournaments recently taking place at Emerald Headingley, including the 2019 World Cup and the 2019 Ashes, students have engaged and interacted with international cricketers and been able to develop and practice their skills against the world’s finest. These have included net bowling at the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as well as the England and Australia squads preparing for the famous ‘Stokes’ test that saw England keep their Ashes chances alive in the 3rd Ashes test match.

Further opportunities include regular net bowling at the Yorkshire CCC pro squad, Yorkshire and England’s Lauren Winfield and Yorkshire’s Women’s team.

Work experience plays a pivotal role in the course and opportunities are readily available for students to develop their skills and gain a unique insight into some of the roles inside a professional sporting environment.

Previously students have been involved in preparations for match days and have worked alongside ground staff to prepare the pitch ahead of Yorkshire and International fixtures including T20 Blast, 2019 Cricket World Cup and the Ashes.
