Yorkshire used nine different bowlers and claimed three wickets as they wrapped up their pre-season preparations against Durham at Emerald Headingley.

Both sides batted for 90 overs apiece yesterday and today, with Yorkshire making 260 for the loss of 12 wickets and then Durham 268 for three. A late decision to schedule today’s play as a training match was made following the washout of day one on Monday.

Seamers Matthew Fisher and Dom Leech claimed a morning wicket apiece, with the former rocking back the middle stump of former team-mate Alex Lees for only two.

Leech then had Sean Dickson (27), Durham’s other opener, caught behind down leg by Ben Birkhead as part of an encouraging day for the youngster – 1-24 from 11 overs.

Leg-spinner Josh Poysden later bowled South African David Bedingham for 42, leaving Durham at 111-3 in the day’s 41st over.

Fisher finished the day with figures of 1-10 from eight overs, while captain Steve Patterson bowled 11 overs at a cost of only 12 runs.

Off-spinner Jack Shutt bowled 19 overs – more than anyone else – and conceded 94 runs.

Like Yorkshire did in their innings, a number of Durham batsmen returned to the crease for a second bat.

Cameron Steel made their only half-century of the day, retiring not out on 52.

These two sides will meet again at Emirates Riverside, starting on Saturday, to begin the short and sharp Bob Willis Trophy.
