Yorkshire have signed emerging wicketkeeper-batter Alice Clarke from Lancashire, converting her current season-long loan at Headingley until in a full-time deal ahead of 2027.
Vibrant Clarke turns 25 at the start of next month.
She learnt her trade at Accrington Cricket Club, the same production line which nurtured the talents of David and Graham Lloyd, one a former England international coach and current commentator extraordinaire and the other a former England international and current first-class umpire.
While she can keep wicket, Clarke’s career has seen her play mainly as a specialist batter. Ellie Threlkeld has taken the gloves at Lancashire and Lauren Winfield-Hill likewise at Yorkshire.
Clarke is a versatile batter with plenty of invention. She has both opened the batting and has also plied her trade in the middle order.
A left-hander with a high ceiling and plenty of development still to do, which excites the likes of captain Winfield-Hill, coach Rich Pyrah and general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton.

Character wise, she’s an old head on young shoulders.
Clarke was in the Lancashire team during the latter stages of the 2025 season when they won the Metro Bank One-Day Cup title. She played in their semi-final success against The Blaze and their final win over Hampshire, opening the batting.
She has been batting in the middle order for Yorkshire has posted a couple of encouraging scores in the thirties.
Clarke has been around professional cricket since the start of the regional era in 2020.
She has scored three recorded centuries, one for regional side Thunder in a 50-over friendly against the Netherlands at Sale in July 2024. She opened the batting on that occasion. Another came for Cumbria in a 50-over match against Hertfordshire last August, again opening the batting. That was a brilliant 156 off 96 balls.
The other was 103 in a 50-over game for Lancashire seconds against Glamorgan in April.

Yorkshire head coach Pyrah said: “Alice is a good player. We’ve kept an eye on her for a while. We played a lot against Lancs in pre-season and on pre-season tour.
“We also know Kate Cross well, and she’s mentioned to us that she’s a good player. She never really got a chance at Lancs, she’s been in and out.
“She plays it well. She moves forward and back, judges length well and has got lovely hands through the ball. She’s calm, she understands the game. Most importantly, she’s a good girl and a good character.
“We like her, and it’s been good to get her around for a period of time now to have a good look.”
