Jack White has been reflecting on an “amazing” final day of the summer for Yorkshire.
The White Rose beat Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge last Saturday to end the season with three successive Rothesay County Championship victories.
New-ball seamer White recorded a superb 2026 best haul of 5-23 – also his best for the county – as Notts’ were bowled out for 85 in their second innings during the third morning, setting up a victory target of 158. The hosts had started the day on 55-3.
White then ended up back at the crease, after tea, with the score at 153-9.
He watched Jonny Bairstow flat-bat Pakistani seamer Mohammad Ali over deep cover’s head for six as part of a superb 38 not out.
“It was a proper knock, and I had the best seat in the house,” said White.
“It was an amazing day. I hope you guys enjoyed it (media), and I’m sure the fans did to. Obviously we enjoyed it in the end, getting the win. It was an amazing game, and that day had a bit of everything.

“I went out there and I was alright. I knew Jonny would get it done. That was an incredible shot, over extra cover for six.
“Big game player. To take us home like that, it was a proper knock.”
White claimed his second five-wicket haul for Yorkshire, with his first coming in the final game of the 2025 summer against Durham at Headingley. In two seasons for the White Rose, he has taken 99 wickets across all formats.
In this summer’s Championship, he finished with 34 wickets in 12 appearances.
Of White, captain Bairstow said at the end of the Trent Bridge win: “He’s trucked in all year and he hasn’t got his rewards at times. Then, he rocks in this morning and does that.”
“It’s nice of him to say that,” White responded. “I’ve been trying hard, and sometimes they do nick them and sometimes they don’t.
“There was a bit of moisture around in the morning, more dew than perhaps there had been.

“It definitely did plenty.
“I thought Coady (four wickets) bowled amazingly well. He didn’t give up any pressure, and it’s great when you’ve got someone at the other end like that.”
White, 34, has been superb in his two seasons at Headingley, since joining from Northamptonshire.
“I absolutely love playing for Yorkshire. It’s a dream of mine. So to be able to do it week in and week out, it’s amazing,” he said.
“I love bowling with Coady, with Hilly, Cliffy and Rev. We all get on and complement each other well. We’re quite tight and enjoy bowling together.
“Cliffy’s been magnificent of late. You saw in the One-Day Cup, he really showed how good he is. Then, against Somerset, getting an eight-for is amazing for him and his confidence.
“We were looking after he got it, and some all-time great bowlers have never got an eight-for.

“Hopefully he’ll kick on from this.”
And, talking of kicking on, that’s exactly what Yorkshire want to do in Division One next year.
White added: “We finished fifth, which is an improvement but is not where we want to be, obviously.
“We’ll be working all winter to make sure that next year we can have a proper challenge.”
