The Yorkshire Cricket College are delighted to offer two qualifications for students aged 16-18:

NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma In Sport
• Level 3 BTEC In Business

Hear from Nick Robinson, Education Manager at the Yorkshire Cricket College who provides an overview of both courses and what students can expect from the college.

Both courses are delivered exclusively at Emerald Headingley Stadium, working in partnership with education provider SCL and delivery partner Pro Coach.

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s educational programmes aim to utilise the power of cricket, the inspirational environment and world class facilities at Emerald Headingley to give the participants an unforgettable educational and cricketing experience.

The educational offer is aimed towards students aged 16-18 years old looking for a non-traditional educational environment. Cricket is used to holistically develop the students by developing team work skills, enhancing self-confidence, leadership ability and autonomy.

Outside of the classroom and training setting, the Yorkshire Cricket College provides unique personal development opportunities through extra curricular qualifications, work experience and volunteering at major events across the summer.

NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma In Sport

This qualification is a two year, full time course, students complete the NCFE whilst benefitting from cricket training and matches built into their timetable.

The curriculum offers a diverse range of modules from the Principles of Anatomy and Physiology to Sports Coaching, Development and Analysis leading to a NCFE Level 3 – the equivalent of 3 A-Levels.

This qualification will give graduates a spring board into their future and the opportunity to progress to further education, apprenticeships or a career.

Programme Overview

The NCFE based education programme is delivered by our Partners SCL, an approved NCFE Centre. Pro Coach will deliver the cricket training.

Course

A 2-year, full-time education and development programme for 16-18 year olds.

Year 1 – NCFE Level 3 in Sport
Year 2 – NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport

Cost

FREE for 16-18 year olds – There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit.

Level 3 BTEC In Business

The Level 3 BTEC In Business qualification, delivered in partnership with SCL and delivery partner Pro Coach, aims to provides students aged 16-18 with an in-depth understanding of the operations and structures of businesses and equip students with the skills required to succeed in employment or at university.

Students will study a range of units across the two year course including: Event Management, International Business and Digital Marketing. Upon course completion learners will receive a qualification which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Alongside the academic studies, opportunities will be readily available to represent the Yorkshire Cricket College through practical led cricket sessions. This will allow learners to have a unique and innovative learning experience and fulfil their passion for both business and cricket.

5 GCSEs grade 9-4

• Event Management
• International Business

Progression opportunities

The BTEC Level 3 Course has the same UCAS Tariff points equivalent to 3 A Levels, allowing students to progress to a range of avenues, including:
• Undergraduate Degrees
